After the fresh install it hovers on the grub boot page for a few seconds every time it boots, but other than that itβs running fine! I gave up on RGB control though haha

I cobbled together some spare parts for a Bazzite rig. Threw OpenRGB on there and it locked me into an eternal black screen with the fans on blast, couldnβt even get back into the bios until I power cycled the thing 4 times and did a fresh install lol
I switched to Tidal this year and it has been great. Same price, vastly improved sound quality, works seamlessly on iOS, Android, PC
I donβt understand why you didnβt like the app design when itβs basically a streamlined copy of Spotifyβs layout, just without the podcast/audiobook fluff or AI shit
my money is on Sloan
shit, Iβll be on a plane that entire day. this will be the first Horror Mind Melter Iβve missed since 2020 π
I volunteer to help with a smuggling operation. this is terrible news
shit! Iβm sure this wouldnβt be easy on your end but Iβd be happy to throw some cash your way to secure copies of future releases. I have every GNV release so far, I canβt stop now!!
This dude is a multi millionaire who lives in Israel of all places. Why would anyone trust his opinions on modern cinema when he spends all his time in a mansion in Tel Aviv??
Heβs made some great movies, obviously, and I love the New Bev, but Quentin Tarantino is an ignorant twat
drop your specs bro

Land of Bad did eventually get a Blu-ray release in Canada! Still nothing in the US though
Free Mahmoud Khalil
absolutely insane to watch your level headed take on this and then immediately see a toxic comment section reinforcing your point. I have zero faith in humanity lol
And on documentaries: I donβt think I ever wouldβve heard about Soundtrack to a Coup dβEtat if it wasnβt for the nom.
No Other Land is *finally* getting some traction after being suppressed in this country for over a year.
Both are must watches.
It might be overlong and is definitely heavy handed but the experience of watching The Substance earlier this week in a packed matinee showing full of clueless boomer retirees was absolutely delightful
We all know that The Academy Awards are like 70% silly bullshit but ultimately I love Oscar season because it can put incredible stuff like Nickel Boys and Iβm Still Here on my radar & it also guarantees a week of Marvel slop and religious propaganda not owning every screen at my local multiplex
I skipped Emilia Perez but other than that itβs a fairly solid lineup this year imo.
I probably liked half of these a bit more than you but totally agree on Nickel Boys being the outlier here, that movie kind of blew me away. Your piece on Ross was incredibly moving too so thanks for that π
Hold That Ghost scared the absolute fuck out of me at age 6. Great movie
My Kindle politely does what I tell it to because i jailbroke it

Damn, things mightβve turned out different for me if my formative years were filled with discussions about trash auteurs instead of daily iterations of Why Invading Iraq Is Good
Great interview! I grew up in a household that had right wing talk radio on 24/7 and never knew Michael Medved could be so cool lol
are you a pocket knife guy? multi-tool? I need to know what the official Chris Person EDC looks like
Ah okay, Iβll be curious to hear your thoughts when you do!
Just curious: have you ever downgraded to a previous release after watching a new UHD because of changes to the source material? (like Cameronβs AI remasters, or the Coens editing scenes out of Millerβs Crossing for Criterion, etc.)
Any thoughts on the AI + CGI tweaks for the new Se7en transfer? Between that and the 7.1 downgrade Iβll probably just stick to old Blu-ray
Screaming crying throwing up at the dream of reconnecting the United States by commuter rail
Happy to help! π«‘
yep, Iβm running Plex in docker on my Unraid server. Paid for the lifetime pass ages ago and itβs been working great for me, but if they get enshittified Iβll probably migrate to Jellyfin
I still love popping in a disc tho! A healthy balance of physical and self hosted digital is the way to go imo
I use Handbrake every once in a while for odd jobs but mostly leave all of my remuxes uncompressed. I built a NAS to store everything and would rather pay for a few more terabytes than sacrifice quality, but I may eventually go back and compress extra stuff like trailers and special features
Sometimes you can find original trailers in great quality on official boutique Blu-ray channels too (Arrow, Severin, etc.)
I use Avidemux to quickly trim these if thereβs any extra promotional fluff at the beginning or end of a video
