Socks are done! I'm already planning the next pair as well as a pair for my sis, but first I'm gonna enjoy these and finish off a crochet project that's been vexing me since last year. Get 'er done. π #LearningToKnit #KnitSocks

First sock nearly done! And in case you don't follow me elsewhere: Fuck π§. And Release ALL the files!
Hee we are again with the squares. I started up a few weeks ago to practice various cable knits in anticipation of a cable project, which has turned out to be fairly easy so I might look at some cable pattern socks or a sweater in the future...
Haven't you updated on the knitting in a while: sweater vest is done! Despite testing the gauge beforehand, it's wildly off and more oversized than I planned, but I am very proud of everything I learned. Next projects are on a smaller scale: hat, socks, leg warmers.
For our friends across the country asking how you can help, this one's for you. π§΅

I'm using the appropriate DK weight yarn...so is it maybe my tension? There is a gauge "21 sts and 31 rows = 4 inches in stockinette" which I am on track to be following but extrapolating from that gauge would also make the ribbing close to 3+ inches wide which seems *excessive*. π₯΄
*Vest* It's just now dawned on me that I could have ended the ribbing sooner (or keep going) depending on size or preference, but the pattern makes no mention of this nor does it assign a suggested number of ribbing rows based on the size you are knitting for (s,m,l,xl, etc).
The best is coming along well but I'm going to *b#@&h* a bit about patterns labeled as beginner that don't explain things that beginners don't know. This section of ribbing says to do 21 rows (this is 18). The photo incuded in the pattern shows a vest that clearly has maybe 12-14 rows, not 21? π§΅1/3
I took a break from yarn for a bit but now am back working on this sweater vest. The process is going much smoother than the dozen starts it took to get to this point. #beginningknitter #learningtoknit
The brim is fairly stiff, so it just needed a little support while it dried. :) I was thinking cardboard, like a collar stay, until I remembered the pack of hoops I got a while back.
I took a knitting break for a bit due to having to restart/recast/frog the hem and ribbing of the sweater vest I'm working on no less than 15 times. In the meantime here is a cotton #crochet beret I finally got around to finishing and blocking.
as someone who lives nextdoor to both supportive housing and public housing, i need people to understand that the best locations for both are going to be the central neighborhoods in a metropolitan area, where there is easy and reliable access to services and jobs.
Finished with the cable sample and this is my last knit square for a while. I am almost out of all the cotton yarn I have and I need to get started on the wool sweater vest I bought yarn for last year. π #learningtoknit #beginningknitter
Finished that diamond pattern and have moved on to my first traditional cable. I'm running out of this soft cotton yarn, so that last one got finished with scraps. π. These are probably going to get used in a funky sweater vest, so I'm not too worried about mistakes, off color mixes. #learningtoknit
I'd consider giving it a go once I retire this summer. Too hectic right now to even post my own content most days.
They want to imprison anyone for burning down a Tesla.
For 20 years.
How much for burning down the stock market?
Senator Jim Banks (R) isnβt sorry he told a fired federal worker βhe probably deserved itβ.
He went on to say the worker was βcomplaining about losing a left-wing woke job in the federal government that should have never been a job to begin withβ.
The job was helping people with disabilities.
Photo shows the first 16 rows of a raised diamond lattice knit pattern sample in purple cotton yarn. In the background is the open pages of the instruction book including a knitting stitch chart and a photo of the finished square. There is a post it note attached to the right side of the right hand page. The note shows a set of numbers 1 through 16 with check marks through them representing the completed rows of knitting.
My knit squares have moved on to twist stitches and the start of learning to cable. I'm more appreciative of the stitch chart on these tricky patterns - the wrong side stitches really require following the charted layout. I've had to make a little cheat sheet for myself for left and right twists. π

Not getting much attention, but the Senate GOP is about to start voting - to make sure banks can charge higher overdraft fees. Seriously.
Good time to let your Senators know what you think of that.
I tossed in a few euros! Looking forward to the Android version. π
The photo shows the first 8 rows of a knitted square on a bamboo knitting needle with the start of a diagonal raised pattern of twisted stitches. A blue stitch marker is clipped to the bottom of the knitting. The knitting rests on an open book showing the lesson and in the background is also a cable needle and a sticky note with writing which shows marks indicating the rows completed.
Photo shows a square knit sample using pink yarn sitting on a background of an open book showing the knitting lesson. The pattern is a set of raised twist stitches that run diagonally across the square on a background knit stitches. A small ball of yarn rests in the lower left corner and a blue stitch marker shows that this is the front (right) side of the sample square.
This square starts cable knitting lessons using a cable needle to slip and twist stitches making raised diagonal pattern. A couple of minor mistakes I left in, but overall an easy repeated pattern. #beginingknitter #knittinglessons #knitsquares
if you find yourself reluctant to support the guy at Columbia because you find some of the politics he espoused distasteful or even abhorrent, you should know that this is exactly the reaction that they hoped for in choosing him as a target for unlawful detention based on political speech.
Itβs amazing to find out at this late date how much the rule of law depended on people simply deciding, on a voluntary, daily basis, not to break the law.
I'm just fascinated by it right now. After trying to learn a long time ago it finally sort of "clicked" recently and I'm enjoying learning new techniques.
Ooops. I'm so tech illiterate at times...
I saved a screenshot of various protests from Peoples Union USA that includes an Amazon boycott this week but I don't have more info than that. Blue sky doesn't seem to support photo comments on my Android phone or I would share.
Eagerly awaiting the Android version. ππβοΈ
NEW: A source tells me that response teams for FEMA set to deploy to the South Carolina wildfires are unable to travel because their government issued travel cards have had their limits reduced to $1. FEMA response team cards were supposed to be exempt.
