I love Muriel, the 4-year-old kitty I adopted last May. Hollis, adopted a bit over 3 months ago at 6 months old, has been fitting right in. We have completely different relationships, though. Hollis is glued to me when I’m home.
It’s weird getting used to no longer having sounding boards.
It was 7°C when I left work and with no wind. My winter coat stayed at the office and I ran errands on foot, enjoying the warmth. It was something like -14°C a few days ago when I walked home all bundled up. This time of year is the weirdest for that. Time to get the bike ready!
My sweeties have been sleeping together on the bed a lot these past few weeks while I’ve been at work, albeit always apart. Today Muriel let Hollis cuddle up to her for over three hours.
I adore the Internet sometimes. For free, I’m spending the next hour and a half listening to exiled women scholars (including a Nobel laureate) from around the world discussing women’s rights and how their voices are at risk. It’s hosted by the New University in Exile Consortium.
Yours, too!
Costello and Mitchell were considerations for me, as well!

Is it too early for vodka?
If you have friends or family who deal with depression or anxiety, you really just have to think outside of yourself. It might seem like folks went dark and don’t want to talk to you but they might just be in the mud at that moment.
Two cups of coffee on an empty stomach may not have been the best lead-up to the game.
Going through old journals and finding playlists from radio shows I had between 1988 and 1995 and found this, which I haven’t heard in decades.
The most delicious thing? A baked sweet potato stuffed with a big dollop of peanut butter and an even bigger dollop of Szechuan chutney.
This is such a good piece — not merely about the Washington Post, but a heartbreaking eulogy for the end of the age of literacy www.newyorker.com/books/page-t...

I’m guessing there are a lot of Atlantic Canadians who’ll either be staying late at the office or rushing to the closest pub right now.
Weird.
The power just flickered twice. That always stresses me out with my phone’s crappy battery. Time to recharge and find my external pack.
I sketched briefly in university. Then many years ago played with acrylic paint (as well as découpage). It was fun. I’d been the sort of kid who borderline flunked art class before that, so never thought I’d be good.
Can’t draw a decent stickman to save my life, but here I go anyway!
I treated myself to some acrylic paint and brushes this weekend and am going to try to jump back into playing around with them. I’ve never in my life viewed myself as creative or artistic, but have always loved art.
Still fncked up about Bud Cort.
What a great time it would be for someone to start up a local delivery service. My favourite Ethiopian place charges an extra $2 through DoorDash. Delivery is an extra $3 plus tip. With the extra mysterious DoorDash fee, what would cost $15 plus tax to pick up ends up costing over $30.
I feel as if today is Friday. I think I’ll just let myself believe it is until the end of the day.

Trust me — you want to pet this fluffy belly! Hollis loves it so much (and his kitten belly is so soft).
