There's so many great contenders, but those are definitely worthy names. I adore Cukor as well when I think of "studio" directors who were brilliant.

An element that makes The Best Years of Our Lives so damn good is what often makes Classical Hollywood so damn good, a willingness to allow there to be small moments. We don't need to characters dashing about, we need to see them live. That's how affection grows.

Got my first round of anonymous feedback for the semester. Was called a "dictionary" for the first time. Crossing another item of my teacher bucket list.
