"This crisis will be good for the energy transition" is not just untrue in the basic sense but also as morally repugnant as the "nature is healing" stuff from the early weeks of COVID.

None of this should be happening, and celebrating the side effects of racist extermination is ghoulish

Stars are disappearing before our eyes β€” and something in us is shifting For most of human history, the night sky has been a shared inheritance, a source of wonder. Now, more than a billion children see barely any stars in the night sky above their homes. So what does that...

'We are losing the stars. Not all at once, but quietly, one streetlight, one neon sign, one expanding suburb at a time.'

I have listened to every BTB and thought I was inured to the worst of humanity, but the story of Craig and that one line β€œa bad man comes at night” has really fucked me up

I’m so sorry for your loss Pete. 13 years since I lost my Dad, and I’m still running ideas by him in my head every day. I don’t think I’ll ever stop

(1) Casey Means is a dreadful nominee and should not be confirmed.
(2) I don't have any desire to defend for-profit advertising of any kind.
(3) "Obesity is a national crisis" as a message both relies on and perpetuates bias against fat people.

I was specifically responding to the bad faith accusation / assumption that a Palestinian who has written extensively on Palestine is somehow not concerned about other Palestinians

How far back in time can you understand English? An experiment in language change

If you liked this experiment, I published a full piece today in the same vein: a text that gets 100 years older with every section, from a modern blog post to a medieval chronicle.

It's a single story spanning 1000 years of English. See how far you get.

Ammori: This is a monumental victory for fundamental freedoms and for Palestine
Ammori has released a statement describing the high court’s ruling as a β€œmonumental victory” and that the government proscribed Palestine Action as a terror group β€œin a Trumpian abuse of power”.

She said:

β€œThis is a monumental victory both for our fundamental freedoms here in Britain and in the struggle for freedom for the Palestinian people, striking down a decision that will forever be remembered as one of the most extreme attacks on free speech in recent British history.

β€œPalestine Action is the first civil disobedience organisation that does not advocate for violence to be proscribed by the British Government as a β€˜terrorist’ group, in a Trumpian abuse of power which would have seen this Labour Government proscribe the Suffragettes. This ban was unlawful, resulting in the unlawful arrest of nearly 3,000 people - among them priests, vicars, former magistrates and retired doctors – under terrorism laws for simply sitting in silence while holding signs reading: β€˜I oppose genocide – I support Palestine Action’.

A UK court has just ruled that the ban on the Palestine Action Group is blatantly unlawful - EXCELLENT news

I have no knife expertise whatsoever, but I do suspect that when you need to use one for self defence it wouldn’t be very convenient to have to un-embed it from your bedroom wall first

Israel used weapons in Gaza that made thousands of Palestinians evaporate US-made thermal weapons burning at 3,500C caused 2,842 people to "evaporate" in Gaza, Al Jazeera investigation finds.

β€œFour of my children just evaporated,” Badran said, holding back tears. β€œI looked for them a million times. Not a piece was left. Where did they go?”

There are no words to adequately describe the evil here.

feels like the lies are getting bolder.

1/ Police blockading Town Hall square, station entry points on that side, and both ends of the George St block between Bathurst St and QVB is called β€œofficers had been trying to disperse the crowd”. The crowd had no way to β€œdisperse” and no instructions.

We know what they do when they think nobody’s watching (or cares) though, right? That’s how we end up with places like Don Dale. Prison guards in the NT, NSW cops, ICE goons. They’re all the same people

I keep thinking about this fact that his last words were are you okay and hers were I'm not mad at you and it feels like a weird coincidence but it's just a reflection of the fact that the people who are coming out to take care of their neighbors are good and the people who are after them are bad
