De los 10 a los 15 años, los miércoles durante el periodo escolar, iba a la escuela de circo . Teníamos la libertad de elegir la actividad que queríamos hacer. Las posibilidades dependían de los profesores que estuvieran presentes. Empecé aprendiendo a caminar sobre la bola grande y haciendo rola rolas o diábolo o girando platos chinos. Me encantaba especialmente el trapecio fijo, pero sobre todo el trapecio volante. Al principio me dolían las manos, y eso a pesar de usar el polvo. Luego, la piel de las manos se endureció y todo fue muy bien. Al principio, me sujetaba con una cuerda. Pero al cabo de cuatro años, hacía trapecio sin cuerdas. Al final, incluso intentaba el trapecio acrobático: cuando finges caer, pero en realidad te agarras al poste, por ejemplo. Una vez, durante un espectáculo, estaba haciendo trapecio fijo. Durante una figura, me sujetaba los pies en las cuerdas y me dejé deslizar hacia abajo para agarrarme a la barra. ¡Mi madre gritó porque pensó que me caía! Pero no pasó nada, todo estaba controlado. Esto me hizo ganar tanta fuerza, sin esfuerzo y con mucho gusto, por lo que cuando en el colegio nos propusieron hacer escalada, el profesor de educación física me puso en el grupo más difícil, donde, aparte de mí, solo había chicos. También me gustaba hacer malabares. Con mis dificultades de coordinación, no se me daba muy bien. Pero nunca nadie me presionaba. El profesor me explicaba con calma la técnica y me dejaba practicar a mi propio ritmo. Veía claramente que los otros niños eran más hábiles que yo. Algunos que intentaban por primera vez eran mejores que yo, que ya había estado entrenando desde hace mucho tiempo. Pero nadie lo comentaba. Al cabo de cuatro años, finalmente logré hacer malabares con tres pelotas, con irregularidad con cuatro. También podía hacer malabares con tres mazas.
