Rewatching the DJ #BOF2 and noticing something I missed yesterday - when he was telling Ewan (buttons actor) that he was going to turn into a bird, he followed that with "and then you'll be back for all of season 3". I'm taking this as confirmation that Buttons can still be a human when needed.
