Friends, #IMCCsharks was meant to be just for our one symposium yesterday not for every IMCC talk about sharks. Use it for whatever I guess but that does mess up our hashtag reach tracking. Oh well, I should have been more clear

I just ended the post-symposium virtual happy hour after 6 hours. My heart is full. My liver hurts.

#IMCCsharks #IMCC6 @madforsharks : It's really important to have accurate data on wild capture fisheries, but we don't have that data for much of the world, and lots of types of fishing gear has high bycatch. Lots of shark catch is just recorded as "shark" not by species.
#IMCCsharks #IMCC6 Fowler : Are sharks wildlife? Are sharks fish/food? They can be both or either, and that makes their conservation complicated! Fisheries management and biodiversity conservation are often separate rules but can overlap and work together
