Had a great time with the gals at the bodega de vino last night. The food, wine and company were all outstanding and we stayed out enjoying ourselves longer than we ever have. Today's project is a Costco run to stock up so we have essentials like coffee in the apartment when we return. #lifeinMexico

While the hubs hikes with a couple of friends in the barranca, I’ll be lunching at the American Society. Later, I’ll be joining my ladies wine group for one last wine & cheese session before we go back to the US for a bit. Happy Thursday. #lifeinMexico

The hubs left early for a board meeting at the American Society, so I have the apartment to myself again this morning. Too bad I'm doing nothing more interesting than laundry, although I will be meeting him for a sushi lunch later with another dear friend who's also a board member. #lifeinMexico

Today is International Women’s Day and the annual march scheduled to begin in el centro has in the past few years devolved into vandalism of a lot of property and defacement of the city with spray paint and graffiti. Women have a lot to be angry about and today they will show it. #lifeinMexico

The hubs is going to a bullfight today and I’m going to stay home, cook some food, open a bottle of wine and binge watch the latest season of Bridgerton. #lifeinMexico

We couldn’t find a carnicería open yesterday so we’re going to try again today either before or after we have carne en su jugo with our lunch group. Although I’m not too excited about the idea of dining with a group of 40 people, it’ll be good to see friends. #lifeinMexico

No plans for today other than going to the mercado for fresh fruits, vegetables, cereal and other items and maybe a pork knuckle (chamorro) if we can spot an open carnicería. That’s tough to find on Fridays during Lent. The ceviche restaurants will be packed with diners today, too. #lifeinMexico

I was cautioned against bringing my phone on the treks to the waterfalls but in hindsight it would have been fine. I never got wet unless I took off my clothes and actually went in the water in a swimsuit. The tour company wants $720 MXN for all the photos, and only a couple are good. #lifeinMexico

Got up too late to make it to the American Society for lunch today so we're going to get a tacon de marlin (giant seafood burrito) instead. I have a video appointment with my Kaiser Permanente doctor in California later this afternoon to review my meds and discuss my general health. #lifeinMexico

To save a few dollars the hubs booked us on an economy bus which, the driver informed us as we boarded, was not a direct bus to GDL. We drove the back roads and byways stopping in every small pueblo and sometimes seemingly every few yards, and it took us more than 6 hours to get here. #lifeinMexico

Our last day of vacation and we're back in San Luis Potosí resting up after the weekend. There's a barbecue place nearby we want to try for lunch. Tomorrow we take the long bus ride back home to Guadalajara and we'll see what awaits us there. #lifeinMexico

No fog today and we're off to tour the Jardin Surrealista in Xilitla, another pueblo magico. Gonna need a vacation after this to rest up from my vacation. #lifeinMexico

Woke up before dawn to fog, even though the temps in Ciudad Valles were above 90° F yesterday and only got down to about 62° last night. Today we're taking a tour through the Waters of Huasteca to see the Minas Viejas cascada and El Meco. Wish me luck! #lifeinMexico

We’ve come to that point in our trip when we become so tired of Mexican food that we pick up a bucket of KFC for dinner. Because it’s Wednesday we paid less than $17 USD for 12 big pieces of fried chicken, 2 sides and 4 biscuits. And a ready made picnic for our bus trip tomorrow. #lifeinMexico

Can't watch FELON47's tacky speech tonight because I have to do my laundry. No, really. This apartment owner requires tenants to schedule a time for him to unlock the laundry room and our start time is between 5-6 today. I figure we'll have some beers on the terrace while it finishes. #lifeinMexico

I really didn't expect it to be this cold in Zacatecas. Yesterday was the most windy day we've experienced here and, of course, it was the day we decided to ride the teleferico to the top of town. I should have brought warmer clothes! #lifeinMexico

We’ve gone to four incredible Zacatecas museums in three days, all of which have outstanding collections and now we’re in a restaurant that bills itself as a museum. The respect here for the arts - visual, music and the written word - is deep. Even the streets are named after artists. #lifeinMexico

Happy Mardi Gras! This evening our book club will be discussing The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, by Junot Díaz. We’re going for a Dominican carnaval theme for this meeting so we’ll be picking up some fresh empanadas for folks to nibble on while we talk about the book. #lifeinMexico

This evening we’re having friends over for an early dinner and a movie. They want see F-1 before they attend a costume themed Oscar party next month and we have Apple TV. We’ll be grilling on the balcony in this lovely weather. Should be a good time. #lifeinMexico

Happy Valentines Day! Our lunch group is not meeting today and the hubs is taking me for a romantic brunch at one of the original European-style wine bars in town, an old favorite of ours. I plan to make him dinner this evening: braised lamb shanks fresh from a butcher delivery. #lifeinMexico

Doing some trip planning and making reservations for an upcoming trip to San Luis Potosí where we’ll trek through the jungle to see the waterfalls and check out the sculpture garden at Las Pozas. We’ll leave by bus the middle of next week. #lifeinMexico

Rewarding ourselves after all our hard work doing laundry and cleaning the house by taking ourselves to see Bugonia at the movie theater and then to the Expiatorio for tacos afterwards. This will be the 11th Oscar nominated movie we've seen. I'm starting to get movie burnout. #lifeinMexico

Our Charros won their first championship game yesterday in the Serie del Caribe and the first win for Mexico in the series since 2016.
Now, on to American football and the Super Bowl.

Looks like we’re in for last minute tickets to the Serie del Caribe Semifinales game 2 this evening: Puerto Rico vs our home team, the Charros. There’s a Lucha Libre demo before the game. This game’s winner will play in the can’t miss final game tomorrow night. #beisbol #lifeinMexico
