I think that a big reason why #Scrooged is the best of all the Christmas Carol adaptions is Frank's confessional at the end. He's not talking to another character. He is speaking directly to US, the audience. His tearful pleading really hits home because he is looking us in the eye.

I first saw #Scrooged during Christmas holidays in 1988.
I would say I’ve seen it, no exaggeration, over 30 times since.
It was only on this year’s watch that I got that Frank gets an eyeball in his highball because they rhyme.
