#ICYMI: Our Senior Legislative Advocate, Omar Altamimi, gave public comment at the March 9th Asm. Budget hearing on the impacts of H.R. 1 - urging #CALeg to reject Governor Newsom's #CABudget proposal to strip full-scope Medi-Cal from 200,000 of our state's most vulnerable immigrant groups.
The first of our Community #MediCal Town Halls was a success. Yesterday over 50 community members came to the Bayside Community Center in San Diego to learn more about upcoming changes to Medi-Cal and our #OurHealthOurFuture campaign to fight the proposed cuts in the #CABudget.
Earlier this week, #Health4All held a press conference with members of the #CALeg to push back on harmful new & continued cuts to immigrant health proposed in @cagovernornewsom.bsky.social's 2026-27 #CAbudget.

Bizarre governing choices by federal Republican leaders - raising tariff taxes, constricting oil supply, tightening labor supply, cutting funding for hospitals and health care and food. It’s hurting the economy and erodes gains that have been happening to help manage difficult #CABudget situation.
US stocks down over 1% today, battered by Trump's choices, constrained oil supplies, and a bad monthly jobs report affected by Trump's weird tariff policies and so-called artificial intelligence.
For now, S&P 500 remains above what was assumed in Governor's #CABudget (6625) & well above last April.
S&P 500 at 6831 today. It was under 5000 at one point last April.
Responding to #CABudget questions:
Stocks are down the last few days due to Trump's war & the resulting constriction of oil supply. But US stocks are way up from a year ago, and that has fueled the short-term tax surge.
Stock prices remain above levels assumed in the Governor's budget proposal.
Speaking personally, making position & amendment letters publicly available is a no-brainer. This should also include letters to the #CABudget committees, which don't use the portal.
Position letters have never been a transparent element of the #CALeg process. The portal can actually change that.

A lot of folks complain about "too much policy in budget," but then they come along and say privately that they "prefer" this or that "in budget." If it's a good idea, then there will be a legislator who wants to author that policy bill! I often am happy to help you find an author. #CALeg #CABudget
