Arriving at Rules as Code Europe 2026 in the Hague Convention Centre this morning.
Almost 300 #RulesAsCode professionals registered to attend! 🤯

My wife made me a #RulesAsCode shirt!
Going to spend a week visiting Netherlands, and attending the #RulesAsCode Europe 2026 conference to talk about §Blawx's history inside the GoC, and what's coming; and to learn from the largest and fastest growing RaC community on the planet.
250 attendees is just wild to me.
I couldn't wait to do the first §Blawx-powered coding agent experiment. Short version is that the workflow works, but the coding task was too easy to be confident whether the Blawx encoding was helping. #LegalTech #RulesAsCode app.blawx.dev/content/blaw...
app.blawx.dev/content/chan... v2.0.3 of Blawx, and v0.1.0b of Blawx-MCP are now live. Stay tuned for some examples of what they can do. #LegalTech #RulesAsCode
You've heard "if you want to understand something, teach it." #RulesAsCode in §Blawx is teaching what you know about rules to a computer. Like teaching, it forces you to think and communicate more precisely, and that makes you a better legal thinker.
I did NOT see that coming.

Blawx is officially no longer "pre-revenue"! 🎉
Big milestone!
But more excited to hear about lawyers having fun using it.
Did I make legal knowledge engineering fun for lawyers? Not really.
It was always fun.
Blawx just makes it easier to learn! 😅

A screen shot of a chat with ChatGPT 5.2 inside the GitHub CoPilot extension for VS Code, in which the agent is using a Blawx encoding to explain why a given output is expected in a given fact scenario that has to do with procurement rules in the Government. Ultimately, the agent replies "From the Blawx run of question id 59 ("is there a violation with regard to a contract") using facts that match your scenario, the reasoner produces a proof tree showing a violation because DMP Section 4.6 / 4.6.1 / 4.6.1.1 requires Treasury Board approval when the estimated value exceeds the entity's non-competitive basic contracting limit, and that approval must occur before the contract is entered into."
New release of §Blawx tonight, v2.0.2, that fixes a small bug with NLG in explanations.
Also, a blog post that illustrates how #RulesAsCode can be used in software development by exposing symbolic AI encodings to developers' agents over MCP. app.blawx.dev/content/usin...

A transcript of a VS Code coding agent session discussing the Blawx tools it is going to use and how it is going to use the responses to generate hypothesis property tests, and showing it making several calls to the Blawx server over an MCP server.
Good progress on my first #RulesAsCode #LegalTech experiment of 2026. I have a working MCP server, which will soon be available to all Blawx users with a paid subscription. Some of the the raw Blawx responses are too verbose for the context window, though, so that will be the next thing to fix. 1/
Made a couple of bug fixes to Blawx, tonight. Thanks to some early users for the help finding them! #RulesAsCode #LegalTech app.blawx.dev/content/chan...

If the only long term benefit is that a handful of people become as insistent about lowering the threshold of entry for #RulesAsCode as I have been for the last 8 years, that would be a huge win.
And if not, I had fun. And that's not nothing.

Whoops... I changed the link for the new §Blawx v2 video, and forgot to tell #Lawsky #Law #LegalTech #RulesAsCode #RegTech #GovTech. Sorry, my bad.

If you are interested in the latest re §Blawx v2, check out this video I submitted as part of the G7 GovAI Grand Challenge today. The demo shows the version on which I'm currently doing QA.

A variety of people with a variety of use-cases who self-identity as motivated to explore the future of #RulesAsCode and legal knowledge representation and automation, interested in giving feedback, willing to learn an innovative new tool while it is still being built...
That would be awesome. 2/
Blawx v2 has reached the testing stage.
Unless testing reveals large issues, it looks like it will be live by the end of the year.

✅Andy Neale “Open Legislative Data Services”, from NZ Parliamentary Counsel's Office
✅Sarah Sutherland, with interesting take on limits of #RulesAsCode
✅AustLII on their experiments in using RAG on their huge body of legal data
✅Lexum & CanLII, incl on AI-assisted search on CanLII
As of tonight, v2.0.0 of Blawx is feature and content complete.
Just QA and bug testing left before it can go live.
Looking forward to switching from making it exist to making it better. Has been years, at this point

Getting very close to a Blawx v2 release candidate. Maybe next week. Then it's time for some intensive QA and debugging. Depending on how testing goes, v2 should be live by the end of the year. #RulesAsCode.
Can coding the law make justice more accessible? ⚖️💻

So for you, an undertaking that improves drafting at all, and does nothing else, is mission accomplished. For me, choosing to do that instead of something that would improve drafting more, and would also have those other benefits of #RulesAsCode, even if it is harder, is a wasted opportunity.
L4 has been a topic of conversation in #RulesAsCode for more than 5 years, but now it can become an object of study, and that's an important step forward.
We can finally see if this architecture, a functional programming style DSL for law & contracts built in Haskell, is justified, or not.
That said, I am very curious what features the full L4 language has, and very encouraged that after five years there is finally an easy way to try it! That's a huge step forward.
People interested in #RulesAsCode should give it a spin and share their reactions. I certainly will.
Here are some results from our work with the L4 team at SMU - getting legislative drafters to produce basic visualisations by showing how to make propositional logic versions of their drafts

Trying to imagine how this might work for #RulesAsCode. Gamified tutorials, maybe? Has that been tried?
You can now watch in replay the official launch event of the OpenFisca Association and discover the path for further adoption of #RulesAsCode, the governance of transformative #DigitalCommons and the state of OpenFisca adoption around the world.

The last day of ICAIL had a lot of papers directly relevant to #RulesAsCode, and at least three papers about getting LLMs to do the encoding.
A lot of unanswered questions, still, but it seems like some of the design choices I made about Blawx v2 to help codegen were well founded.
