Well done.
I did not, but I am pleased to see the work someone put into it! #wotcstaff
Pencil drawings on the outside of a file folder depicting droidsโthree variations on R2-D2 (all of them with rectangular heads) and one similar to C-3PO, labeled C3DE. These were all drawn by a 9-year-old and look like it.
This folder has papers from 1977. Having seen one Star Wars, I was ready to create new droids for more.
Also amusing: the follow-up questions. โDo you think most people would answer that way?โ โNo, because most people donโt do that.โ
โWhat would you have said 2 years ago?โ โSwim.โ
โWhat do you think you might say 2 years from now?โ โSame as now.โ
Yeah, I knew very quickly what a hold it had on me.
One panel of a comic-style school assignment. The instructions (not fully visible) say, โYou are being interviewed on national network TV. Answer the interviewerโs questions as honestly as you can.โ In this panel, the interviewer asks, โWhat do you like to do most?โ The handwritten answer I put in is โPlay Dungeons & Dragons.โ
Another school assignment, dated September 6, 1979โa few months after I started playing #dnd.
A 12-year-old Jamesโ illustration of a winged biped with a dragonโs head and tail. The figure is colored with magic markerโlight green, with yellow for the membranes of the wings and the shorts the figure wears. It wields a mace in its right hand and a triangular shield in its left. Below the figure is the school project title: โFuture Centerโ and a cursive signature: โJames Wyatt โ80โ The drawing is on the outside of a file folder.
A professional illustration by Todd Lockwood of a very similar bipedal figure with wings and draconic features (head and tail). The style resembles an ink sketch, with hatched shading. This figure holds a scimitar in its right hand and a round shield in its left. The figures are different enough in pose that itโs clear James didnโt trace this one, but the inspiration is very obvious.
In this school project from 1980, you can clearly see the influence of Todd Lockwoodโs krolli (Dragon #36).
I grew up to be a writer.
Now add 1d4 to your attack rolls and saving throws.
James (a gray-haired white man with glasses and a goatee) wearing a red stole and chasuble raises one hand, palm out in blessing, at the end of the Diocese of Olympiaโs ordination service today.

Weird question for the โ๏ธNarthex: Does anyone have handy the Church Publishing lectionary insert for this Sunday? Does it have both Gospel readings in it? (My church is an hour's drive away...)
These join my cross dice bag, dragon stole, and dragon cufflinks in the area of overlap of my two jobs.
A set of seven polyhedral dice with a sort of stained-glass look: etched frames on each face and colorful glitter inside. Gorgeous!
My @aetherobjects.bsky.social Cathedral Dice arrived today! I mean, how could I not?
Two โPC Combat Cardsโ with the character named Omin Dran (half-elf cleric) and Jim Darkmagic (human wizard), with handwritten notations of their hit points and various conditions.
Going through old files last night, I found these โPC Combat Cardsโ I used when I ran the first sessions of what would become Acquisitions, Inc. in 2008. @pennyarcade.bsky.social #dnd
โYou stop being hidden immediately after any of the following occurs: you make a sound louder than a whisper, an enemy finds youโฆโ (PH Rules Glossary). Iโd say when you run out into the hall, an enemy finds you.

It's great to see @aquela.com in a video again!

From โFalls Runโ in Dungeon 66 (January 1998) to the 2024 DMG, Chris and I have worked together A LOT. Thanks for everything, my friend.
Today I retire from Wizards of the Coast after 28 years. With D&Dโs 50th anniversary wrapping up and the revised rulebooks doing gangbusters, this is the perfect fairytale ending for me. I canโt wait to enjoy D&D purely as a fan again, knowing the game is in good hands. See you in the Feywild!
Given my age, I do not have favorite console games from my childhood (Munch-Man on the TI-99/4A? Please.) but Kirby Air Ride was my absolute favorite game to play with my daughter on the Wii, despite having to use janky old GameCube controllers. This news has us both teary.

Seriously this Bible exchange goes on even longer than I'm able to clip here.
I was just reflecting this week that, with dozens of D&D books on my bibliography, with every one I still harbor the secret fear, โWhat if this one sucks?โ (Same thing for sermons. โ๏ธ)
A 9 on the d20 plus a 4 on the d4.
I got better! (9, +4 for Bless, +3 Con)
A d20 and a d4, both showing 1s.
โOh, Iโll be fine against a cave full of basilisks. Iโll cast Bless on us all first.โโAdโonohr, last words (?) #dnd
Last week was the first time in my new church that I talked about D&D in my sermon. Today we had a first-time visitor because of it. ๐
KJ is a beloved part of my little Morning Prayer community and is also near the front lines of people who are being trampled by Trumpโs assaults. Please consider helping him out.

I just meant I hope I didnโt hit my peak ten years ago, but geez, maybe I did. When am I ever going to do something else with that kind of impact? Clearly I need to be looking for opportunities.
Well, you just made me cry in my kitchen. Thank you.
Well, I hope not, but thank you, friend. ๐
Shivam kicking my butt was absolutely a highlight of my whirlwind trip to MagicCon. Great to see you, friend!
Interestingly, I too will be at MahicCon Chicago, at least on Friday and part of Saturday (flying home in time to preach on Sunday!).
We'll be at MagicCon Chicago this weekend with other D&D fans, artists, creators, the cast of Baldur's Gate 3 and more!
It's not too late to attend, check out all our activities and get tickets through the link below. dndbeyond.link/DnD-at-Magic...
