Well-deserved! Congrats!

There are tons of amazing video games that have been forgotten, overlooked or which never found an audience. I'm a researcher who's going through them and finding the Greatest Games You (Probably) Never Played! Website: https://greatestgames.substack.com
Well-deserved! Congrats!
Looks cool! Signal boosting!
To know Odin Sphere is to love it! What a fantastic game.
Signal boosting!
It's not the greatest game I've ever played, but I miss weird, wild swings like PN03 that at least tried to be different.
We have to turn to indie games and small studio devs for a lot of this today.
20 years of Wadjet Eye Games is something to celebrate!
I don't think I've ever played a bad game made by or published by this studio.
But I have played quite a few I've loved!
I'm hoping it's all been positive vibes the last 20 years, but I am curious how regularly you've been told adventure games are dead and you need to pivot to something else or else you won't make it.
What sorts of bad advice have you been given?
Is it a fighting game character?
Ultima Online
Halls of the Dead: Faery Tale Adventure II
Rastan
Arthur: The Quest for Excalibur
Some of their video game artwork will absolutely stun you if you've never seen it!
I was reading this book about the Hildebrandt Brothers (Greg and Tim) last night, written by Greg's son, and I was absolutely floored by how much work went into creating photographs and poses for their artwork before they even picked up a paintbrush.
AI art can never replicate that level of depth!
Man, I've tried! He got up on stage once during a "Whose Line is it Anyway" live show and was an aspiring improv comic for awhile.
But now he's a middle schooler on the cusp of being a teenager and knows everything.
I can't spend a month sharing video game end credits music without including this great tune from Sayonara Wild Hearts!
It's "A Place I Don't Know" by Daniel OlsΓ©n and Jonathan Eng, vocals by Linnea Olsson

Need something a little weird in your day?
Try Psychosis (also known as Paranoia), a surreal shoot 'em up for the PC Engine and TurboGrafx-16 that plays sort of like R-Type and which may be a metaphor for death and resurrection.

Sigma Star Saga was a fun Guardian Legend-style hybrid game from a time where you'd often only find those on handhelds.
Yes, the main character looks ridiculous in his parasite suit, but that's just how the aliens he's infiltrating actually dress.
And the girls on the cover are pseudo-waifus!
Thinking about Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, I suggested to my kids that we should open a bar where people are encouraged to LARP as wayward visitors from time or space, and my son, in annoyance, said, "What if someone orders a Pan-Galactic Gargle-Blaster? What do we do then?"
I'm raising him right!
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words!
I do this because I'm trying to shake up our understanding of what the "best" games are. So many get overlooked!
Hear me out...
Univerally praised games are neat enough, but nothing hits quite like something unpopular that speaks to *you*.
So show-and-tell: Link and Explain a game that's UNDERRATED (sub-500 user reviews), UNDERRATED (sub 80% score) or BOTH (ideally!) that is near and dear to your heart.
In case I just followed you, I'm still the kinda guy who follows back, so don't be alarmed!
I often find I've got some pretty awesome mutuals, so I promise it's meant to be a compliment!
Keep in mind they could have called it CATS or CAST or TASC or done what the Japanese version did and named the team SAT (Special Attack Team).
But nope, SCAT's the ticket! Never mind that it makes the game literally sound like crap!
(It's actually not!)
Final Mission / SCAT / Action in New York boxes
I can't wait to talk about this fun but incredibly stupidly localized NES game this week!
Japan: "Let's call it Final Mission."
Europe: "Let's call it Action in New York"
US: "Let's call it SCAT! It means, uh... Special Cybernetic Attack Team! Yeah! And name the heroes Arnold and Sigourney!"
Promotional artwork for game Old Skies, showing lead character Fia Quinn a white women with short brown hair, wearing a leather jacket and holding a futuristic device in her hand.
Happy Internal Womenβs Day from this lightly depressed International woman!
(Itβs Fia in Old Skies)
So excited to be holding a copy of The CRPG Book in my hands!
I consult the PDF (which is free) constantly!
Avatar continues to astound me with how commercially successful it is as a franchise despite almost no one I know giving a crap about it.
They're perfectly watchable movies, but also amazingly forgettable. James Cameron clearly has a Midas touch that defies all understanding.
Gamera
Prince of Space
Godzilla vs Megalon
Eegah!
All solid recommendations!
Throw in "Pod People" and "Eegah!" and "Time Chasers" and "Prince of Space" and, from the later seasons, "Reptilicus" for that awesome Kaiju Rap.
And of course "Godzilla vs Megalon"!
MST3K was also what turned me into a Gamera fan.
If you haven't done something like this yourself in a RollerCoaster Tycoon game, you've clearly never had a theme park design go sideways and cause you to turn into a maniacal supervillain!
It's getting to be a familiar story!
I'm actively boycotting EA, but I'm thinking it's time to do the same for any publisher that behaves this way.
Support ethical devs and buy AAA games secondhand or get them from the library if you must play 'em.
We have to stop putting money into this system
Interesting!
I guess it's like soda/pop. I'm in the soda belt, but we do have a few "pop" people here who stand out for saying it. But drive up to Springfield, Bloomington, Peoria or Champaign/Urbana and it's at least 50/50!
(No one here says "Coke," but go a few hours south and they do!)
The funny thing is, my kids are digital natives and barely know how to use computers.
They use Chromebooks at school and phones/tablets everywhere else. They're baffled by Windows and constantly have to ask for help to adjust settings or fix problems!
Play Castlevania Legends sometime. She was set up as being the first Belmont (which Konami retconned with Leon a few years later) and she's just terrible.
Ugly design out of step with the series, controls terribly, bad abilities, chases away Alucard and also seemingly has a child with him.
Ugh, agree to disagree. I hated Castlevania Legends THAT MUCH.
We never got the Dreamcast game she was supposed to star in, but apparently, it was US-developed and Konami thought it was so awful they cancelled it.
