Another successful SNC board tour and meeting completed. We couldn’t have asked for nicer weather for our tour, which had nearly 70 attendees! A huge thank you to SNCs board members, our partners who attended and presented, and of course our staff for making it all happen!

To help reduce the risks of wildfires, drought, and pest-driven tree loss, $120 million in funding is now available to support forest health projects across California.

The project also improves watershed resilience in the Upper McCloud River watershed & helps prepare the landscape for the reintroduction of prescribed fire.
Part of the 13,200-acre Eastside Project, the work reduces wildfire risk to rural communities, tribal resources, recreation sites & critical utility & transportation infrastructure.

A $300,552 SNC grant enabled the CA Deer Association to reduce hazardous fuels on 200 acres along roadways in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, 17 miles south of Medicine Lake in Siskiyou County.
Funded with Prop 1 dollars, the effort leveraged CAL FIRE Forest Health funding & in-kind support from Lassen National Forest staff. The project officially closed Feb. 3.
The project reduces wildfire risk for nearby communities & builds on restoration across surrounding industrial & private lands as part of the larger Diamond Mountain Initiative.
After the 2020 Sheep Fire (North Complex) burned much of the project area, significant adjustments were made prior to implementation to ensure successful restoration treatments on the National Forest land.
An $882,087 SNC grant enabled the Lassen Fire Safe Council to complete forest & watershed restoration on 732 acres in the Diamond Mountain watershed, south of Susanville in northeastern Lassen County.
