Yep. Silicon Valley took shape around us over the years, gradually pushing out all the apricots from one of the two or three places on the planet where you can grow them commercially.
People ask if it was terrifying. It was, but it never actually happened, and there was nothing any of us could have done about it. School shootings, on the other hand, happen weekly, and could be ended if we would just vote to do so. I do not envy the current generation of kids in the USA.
