When I did read the Art of War looking for some deep military wisdom, I was really dissapointed because most of it were like very basic stuf like "don't go to battle if you know you're going to get your ass handed" or "don't attack that 100k army just with your tavern buddies".

I think it's important that people achieve literacy and the ability to think critically about what they read, and I think there are a lot of people who probably would enjoy reading fiction more than they think, or more kinds of fiction than they think, if they gave it a shot. But that's it!
I don't think such ppl are going to be able to write good fiction of their own, should they ever desire to do so. I don't think they should rock up to sophisticated discussions about literature & act like their opinions should have the exact same weight as an English prof's. But sinners they ain't.

the criminal overworking and underpayment of people in caring professions is one of the worst societal problems in america. if every consultant disappeared tomorrow it would have zero effect on anything real. if every home health aide disappeared then hundreds of people would die
home health aide making 23k a year is so bleak bc that's about how much i make in a year drawing pictures and doing some part time job where i scoop ice cream or sweep popcorn off the floor. as opposed to working full time hours compressed into 2 days a week making sure an elderly person doesn't die
