I’ve been trying to track down this issue, but haven’t found the cause yet. Skipping forward or back once should bring the sound back when it happens.
I can’t promise a fix just yet, but I’ll keep looking into it in future updates.
Yes, I plan to add bookmarking in the future.
For now, I'm focused on the iOS 26 update, which turned out to take much longer than expected. Once that’s done, I’ll be back to adding new features like this.

Still working on the features teased in the roadmap! Meanwhile, here's what has shipped in May and June.
For a quick way to resume playback that's available right now, Every Word supports interactive widgets with a play/pause button.
Shortcuts are on the to-do list, but with a low priority at the moment. Though, honestly, if it's just playback controls, it'd be reusing code from widgets, so pretty easy to implement.
I'll consider doing it sooner -- thanks for explaining your use case.
Just to clarify, do you mean that the app should open with the full-screen player if that was the state when it was last closed?
It's possible, just haven't seen many apps do that 🤔
Sorry, no, app icons are not optimized for dark or tinted modes yet.

Here's the direction I'm considering for the future:
Home tab redesign: Bigger artwork with horizontal scrolling, plus potentially new sections.
New Library tab: Filter your collection by authors, genres, and other metadata.
