We are quantifying this exact pattern and find:
Israelis double as likely to be described using humanizing frames. Palestinians overwhelmingly described wrt infrastructure damage.
Palestinians 6X more likely to be discussed in relation to their govt. Israelis paired with govt 5% of the time.

The asymmetry of the value placed on human life is so striking. Israel has a goal to recover 40-year-old remains; to do so, it invades a sovereign country, and the lives of 26 Lebanese are an afterthought. Their names not even worth printing in the New York Times.

Pace of global warming has nearly doubled since 2015, reveals study - Carbon Brief
An acceleration in human-caused global warming could see the Paris Agreementβs 1.5C limit breached before...
I'm not suggesting this is an open secret within the climate science community, but it's remarkable how little impact this sort of research is generating. Because if the rate of warming really has *doubled* then you can kiss goodbye to 2Β°C. www.carbonbrief.org/pace-of-glob...

I was born in an Iranian prison. My parents were held in their jails. My uncles lie in their mass graves.
Nothing you can tell me about the crimes of the Iranian regime that I haven't lived in blood and bone.
That doesn't mean I want my people bombed, maimed, killed, their homes in ruins.
If your vision of liberation comes only through the destruction of innocent lives, then it's not freedom you're after.
Sahar Delijani, Iranian author
I am pro Iranian people. I stand with them against their own governmentβs repression AND against the imperial violence in the form of bombs dropped from the sky from Israel & the US who have already killed hundreds.
I support neither imperialism or dictatorship.
Sahar Delijani said it best:

Over the last two years, there have been assaults, violent attacks on mosques, and anti-Muslim rhetoric from prominent figures on the far right.
But there's also been renewed scrutiny of issues within Muslim communities, and how well integration has happened.
There are questions about how well successive governments have engaged with Muslims to deal with issues in their own communities, and Islamophobia from outside.
So the BBC did an article about a Muslim man who got hideous racist abuse for appearing in a βWelcomeβ advert at Heathrow airportβ¦
β¦and they included this passage. What the actual fuck is wrong with them?!

Now it can be revealed that Kirstie Donnelly, the City & Guilds chief executive who later received a Β£1.74 million bonus, and Abid Ismail, chief financial officer, who received Β£1.2 million, provided suspect information about the financial health of the charity shortly before the sale.
Never heard of an instance like this of a charity CEO getting a Β£1.74m bonus. Part of a strange wider story Iβve never heard about of the sale of City & Guilds to a commercial company in Cyprus. The sale is now subject to a Charity Commission inquiry

No. Just no.
Labour is on a headlong mission to alienate itself from decent human beings. She'll be making them wear badges or ankle tags next.

This is truly sickening from Labour, but predictable with how far they have gone on implementing xenophobia as policy. People seeking asylum need stability and to know they can rebuild their lives in safety. Denying them that risks re-traumatising individuals and worsening their mental health.

Utterly cruel, pointless and harmful. It does not minimise how bad Conservatives were to say Labour are now the most anti-asylum government in most people's living memory. This prevents people feeling any sense of safety and security after fleeing persecution.

Kind of incredible. I was just sitting down to write about how Starmer should be given credit for keeping us out of this mess when he does this. Unutterably foolish and obsequious. Why in God's name should we have anything to do with this shortsighted madness.

It's this kind of self serving, selfish crap in the Tory Party that led to the immense self harm of Brexit.
Can't someone in power actually put the interests of the country and their (prospective) constituents above their petty infighting.

The number of Labour figures and commentators saying the Green victory in Gorton & Denton is the worst outcome because it shows how bad Labour's electoral chances are is really upsetting me. It's so incredibly distasteful that they would prefer a Reform win. Really shows their priorities.

Part Z
A proposed amendment to the Building Regulations, mandating the assessment of whole life carbon, and setting limits on embodied.
There are different ways to do that.
Part Z is one: part-z.uk
Planning policy is another.
Tax policy and other financial incentives could be another.
But government needs to set a clear expectation and direction here.

The evidence is clear: the UK construction industry increasingly equipped with the tools, expertise and motivation needed to cut embodied carbon.
What is missing is clear national policy to accelerate consistent action across the built environment.
