The asymmetry of the value placed on human life is so striking. Israel has a goal to recover 40-year-old remains; to do so, it invades a sovereign country, and the lives of 26 Lebanese are an afterthought. Their names not even worth printing in the New York Times.

Over the last two years, there have been assaults, violent attacks on mosques, and anti-Muslim rhetoric from prominent figures on the far right. But there's also been renewed scrutiny of issues within Muslim communities, and how well integration has happened. There are questions about how well successive governments have engaged with Muslims to deal with issues in their own communities, and Islamophobia from outside.
So the BBC did an article about a Muslim man who got hideous racist abuse for appearing in a “Welcome” advert at Heathrow airport…

Never heard of an instance like this of a charity CEO getting a £1.74m bonus. Part of a strange wider story I’ve never heard about of the sale of City & Guilds to a commercial company in Cyprus. The sale is now subject to a Charity Commission inquiry

This is truly sickening from Labour, but predictable with how far they have gone on implementing xenophobia as policy. People seeking asylum need stability and to know they can rebuild their lives in safety. Denying them that risks re-traumatising individuals and worsening their mental health.
Utterly cruel, pointless and harmful. It does not minimise how bad Conservatives were to say Labour are now the most anti-asylum government in most people's living memory. This prevents people feeling any sense of safety and security after fleeing persecution.
