That one was dark chocolate but I can't remember what was inside (this photo is from 2 years ago, I think). The eggs come in sizes from 1 (normal egg size) up to 11 or 13, though I've never seen them that big except in photos. I think these pictured were 4 & 5s.

The Icelandic grocery store called Bónus has a piggy bank logo/mascot. The pig has kind of developed a cult following w/ fans of Iceland (and with those of us who live here).
At Easter here, it's popular to buy chocolate eggs filled with different candies.

In the last 24 hours on my street in Iceland we've had both gale force winds & calm; heavy snow & light rain; blowing sleet & brilliant sunshine; overcast gloom & crashing thunder and lightning. Waves of this, followed by waves of that and then back again. Temperamental ass country.

Bright light shines over snow covered peaks, under blue sky painted with broad white clouds. A few trees stand off the sides of tracks made into pretty powdery snow. Another stand of dark evergreen trees cross the line of the horizon.

We've got winter! Though I encountered no one else on my walk, lots of footprints - human and canine - were evident.

The ground is now fully white and the mountain in the back looks like it's been drawn in charcoal - white with craggy black/gray ridges.

Yes! No measurable snowfall in Reykjavík for 72 days. It's been so weird and dry.
Snow is falling and obscuring the backyard mountain, the old house back there, and the trees that surround the house. The ground is becoming white.
Would you look at that - for the first* time all winter, it's starting to look like winter.

There was a Kjótsúpudagurinn in Reykjavík with a whole street full of restaurants giving out free samples. But that hasn't happened in the last few years.
