ai can write reasonable code, but will it ever learn to consider and ultimately decide against implementing a bloom filter for 75% of the projects it works on?
(Admittedly it's not the exact centre, but if the merfolk show up (in Lorwyn? Perish the thought) and you mix in Duskmourne too you're probably pretty close)
There is a considerable degree to which the Lorwyn Eclipsed story seems to be the precise center of the @seananmcguire.bsky.social venn diagram and I am all kinds of here for it, it is amazing. Strong recommendation. magic.wizards.com/en/news/magi...
The way I would distinguish it is that an actor is portraying a character through a prescribed set of events (such that their responses are also prescribed), whereas LARPing is portraying a character and using that character to inform how you/they respond to unknown events as they unfold.
I feel like there must be a way to (I'm sorry it's the only word I can think of) leverage this fact into getting one or more of Aldis Hodge and Christian Kane into full plate, but I can't quite see the line.
...yknow what, "Mitch Benn does Tom Lehrer" might well describe my ideal gig.
Finally got around to @seananmcguire.bsky.social's Instalment Immortality. Verdict: Extremely good. Mary remains extremely fun. I have feelings about Arthur and my own struggles with memory. I wish only good things for Phee.
Also it made me sad, which is a big plus.
Good book y'all should read it.

A terrible banner for "Watch + Jam 7", rendered in a style as to suggest it was created inexpertly with very basic image manipulation tools.

Today more than ever a reminder that trans men are men, trans women are women, nonbinary folks are exactly who they purport to be; and all of these things have been true longer than any person has been alive, and will continue to be for after every person alive now is gone too.
Been messing around with Providence, the first foil rare I ever pulled, and came up with something that seems extremely @saffronolive.bsky.social's speed. Eight lands is enough for modern, right?

If it wouldn't spoil your enjoyment, that sounds like something that would be a lot of fun for the rest of us :)
It is _fascinating_ seeing how you adapt your posts cross-medium for this sort of thing- I hadn't noticed it until this one but the decision to say this in a reply on bsky and in the tags specifically on tumblr is a very interesting one.
I am this close to creating a new blocklist for anyone who uses the phrase "I asked chatgpt and" in a reply, I swear.
Thank u for soothing Fran. Thank u Fran for soothing.
I swear this was a homestar runner bit
I can't let this pass by without mentioning Sarah Pinsker's amazing "And Then There Were (N-One)", in which (at the risk of minor spoilers) her own Nebula Award is used as a murder weapon. (Sarah Pinsker herself does not appear "on-screen" (well, she does, but...))
Max, a black and white foster cat, is lying on his back on a blue and gold patterned rug, beside a heavily scratched brown sofa. He is looking at the camera with what I would anthropomorphise as a surprised expression, with his forepaws held in front of his body much like a stereotypical zombie or kangaroo pose. The rest of his body is extended to make him as long as possible
What is even going on with this cat, I swear.
...in stark contrast to literally any other day?
Max the black and white cat sitting on the viewer's lap, being petted.
An update from Max the very shy cat: turns out he isn't shy, he just hates me specifically. Not two minutes after my girlfriend, who he has never met, shows up, he is in her lap begging for petting. Traitor.
Name explanation: We don't know his original name. He's been stray for two years, some locals had been taking care of him during that time, but didn't name him. Vets called him Valentino for their records when he was brought in (on Feb 14th). Said locals are now adopting him, renaming him Max.
Max the cat is perched on a windowsill, looking at the camera. He is lying down on a black, white and red scarf. Behind him, it is night time, though it is hard to see outside due to reflections in the window. Max is black and white, with his face and neck ruff being the only white visible on him in his current loafing position.
Max (formerly Valentino) is missing the outdoors, apparently. Poor lad. We need you to Heal, I'm sorry :(.
Valentino the cat sits in the back of an open cat carrier, glaring balefully. He is largely black with a white chest and white markings on his face, and has his tail curled around his body.
The young gentleman was a very good boy at his vet appointment but did not appreciate them trying to wash his feet.
If it makes you feel better, not only do I not recall, I am fairly sure three-year-old me could soundly thrash present me at chess too :)
A selfie of Phillammon, taken from slightly above. He is a white man with short brown hair, short "full beard" style facial hair and blue eyes, wearing a navy Henley shirt. He is seated in an office chair and looking up at the camera, with a treadmill, radiator, and framed art piece of some kind visible in the background.
I am so deeply sorry for the passage of time, but alas, it is true. We're even old enough that this February I had my first "wait, you're meant to be a toddler, not a fully sapient small human" moment about the next generation...
A picture of Valentino the cat. He is a largely black cat with white markings on the bottom of his face and on his chest. He is "loafed" on a chair that is tucked under a table, looking at the camera, with a tablecloth hanging off the table behind him. The photograph is taken from below the height of the table, with a table leg visible. He is pleasantly round, with a very round face, and he is eyeing the viewer with some degree of what would be anthropomorphised as suspicion.
It is new foster time! Meet Valentino, who has been living as a stray for the past two years and was brought to the vets on the 14th (hence the name the vets gave him) with a hurt paw. Paw now fixed and he's convalescing well!
I truly do not understand what levels of lack of introspection or active self-delusion are required to even passively support that kind of culture, much less shout down people who point it out, as you say above. (4/4)
That was my personal never again moment- I didn't want to be One Of Them for a Them that is unapologetically that vile. I'd come from basically the centre of the privilege venn diagram and even I could see the problem here. (3/4)
That much we could deal with- we enjoyed the conventions enough to ignore it. Some years later, though, I became old enough that said folks considered me One Of Them, and became a lot more overt to me about how much they felt my (non-male) siblings were still unwelcome. (2/4)
