The wizard sleeps calmly. The little cat stalks an illusionary bat around the kitchen.
That’s more than half the annual budget of the National Science Foundation.
Kilauea volcano in Hawaii put on a show on March 10, erupting in lava fountains and sending ash and smoke pluming over its openings.
We sacrificed a million plus Americans to die because people refused to put on a mask and help protect each other. We're told taxing the rich to help people have economic freedom is bad.
The wizard is snuggled into his bed, reading a novel about a detective. The little cat is curled up above the covers, by his feet.
The wizard's pajama robes are set on a little table next to the bathtub. He carefully steps into the bath. It is just the right temperature and the bubbles smell of mandrake root.
one more time: our problem is not polarization. our problem is fascism.
"polarization is the problem" is literally the thesis of Birth of a Nation. it has long been a white supremacist justification for fascism in the US. www.everythingishorrible.net/p/our-proble...

it really is just stunningly on the nose that the opening salvo to Trump’s supposed war
of liberation in Iran began with bombing a girl’s school.
if you put that in fiction people would dismiss it as being too maudlin and heavy-handed, and yet this kind of thing just keeps actually happening.
“Let’s kick this off not just with a war crime, but with a war crime that specifically targets young women in a regime that is famously misogynistic while we try to claim moral superiority”
I just had someone try the “you should be nicer to me because I follow you” response and I really think if you say that to a woman online, you are admitting you have dehumanised her enough to feel entitled to her kindness no matter how you behave with her.

Specific enough we all know who is being discussed, yet general enough to perpetually useful!
aka totally stealing this! Thank you thevaliantone!
Okay, look, readers have preferences, literary tastes adn dominant paradigms are always in a state of change, whatever, but maybe if you don't like worldbuilding, fantasy is not actually the genre you should be reading?
And this is how we know 100% it was intentional to hit the girl’s school AND it sure as hell wasn’t done by Iran.
This is honestly the treatment Trump voters should get in the U.S. too. Don't let them try to hide from the effects of their choice. It's always the people who believe in the worst things that get mad when someone "makes things political."
The US is at war and repression at home is going to get worse.
I'm old enough to remember during the Iraq war the FBI infiltrating quaker meetings and vegan potlucks and cracking down on anti-war groups and outspoken Muslim leaders.
The US surveillance state has grown exponentially since then.

Absolutely. Especially when you are starving and have no way.
That Dem consultants told Gov. Walz to stop calling them “weird” still has me miffed.

Yes, hello, is that God? Yeah, hi. I have a complaint. You gave me this brain that’s designed for finding berries and avoiding lions and now people are ‘just circling back’ to see if we can ‘move the needle’ on ‘key initiatives’? NONE of those things are berries.
A baby warty frogfish at the Shedd Aquarium is the first of its kind ever raised from egg to juvenile in an aquarium setting. It is roughly 1 centimeter, or less than half an inch, in size.

“Social murder” is a term created by Friedrich Engels to describe the premature death of marginalized people due to political, social, or economic oppression.
What is happening right now in America is the premeditated, calculated, & planned extermination of children who are trans. This is genocide.

Tabby Yukon (now Roy) and white kitten Peppermint (now Keeley) snuggle together on a pile of comfy blankets. Keeley is fast asleep but Roy is looking at the camera… he looks huge! Photo taken and shared with permission by their new owner.
Tabby Yukon (now Roy) in his patented sprawl on the heating pad with belly exposed and legs stretched out long showing off his perfect white toes. Photo taken and shared with permission by their new owner.
Sweet little white kitten Peppermint (now Keeley) sitting looking adorable with her signature slightly derpy crossed eyes. Photo taken and shared with permission by their new owner.
Little Yukon/Roy surprised me bc he was terrified during the meet & greet (shelter can be such a challenging environment w loud noises and weird smells).
But their wonderful new purr-ents are so patient - giving the kittens plenty of time to adjust and feel comfortable in their new surroundings 🥰
