While I have no ill will toward the β€œATmosphere” (Bluesky/AT Protocol), the contrast in funding models is hard to ignore. The fediverse’s support from strategic investments in open infrastructure (like NLnet or STF) feels far healthier than ATmosphere's heavy backing from crypto-linked VCsβ€”a […]

I'm writing this in English.

Not because English is my first languageβ€”it isn't. I'm writing this in English because if I wrote it in Korean, the people I'm addressing would run it through an outdated translator, misread it, and respond to something I never said. The responsibility for that […]

Today I Donated To the Fediverse Once again, the Internet is under attack, but this time its enemies are back with a vengeance and with more fury than the corporate and government threats of the 90s and early 2000s. The elitist, billionaire Elon Musk bought Twitter, the rogue states of US and Isr*l bought TikTok, and now the drug addicts Peter Thiel, Alex Karp, and Larry Ellison are buying up internet security real estate to convert it into a global surveillance network running on AI technology using Palantir and Oracle software. Their plan is to turn the internet into a global surveillance system to build a database about everyone, just like Jeffery Epstein built a blackmail system to build a database of government leaders, celebrities, diplomats, CEOs, and any other important person in compromising situations. The web was supposed to be _for_ us, but now the powers that be are turning it against us. We’re losing critical parts of it bit by bit to sadistic psychopaths with deep pockets and a hard-on for human suffering because they were likely bullied as kids or abused by their own parents. And now they have a hatred for people. https://youtu.be/fZ_65R7yG6k?si=ZyPosiPUBuJi8ra2 Yesterday, I made the conscious decision to abandon mainstream platforms and support independent web services on the Fediverse. Rather than using mainstream social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, I now use indie federated platforms like Pixelfed, Loops, and PeerTube and fund them every month. I don’t mind paying, as long as I’m paying for a cause I believe in. The free in freedom, isn’t free. These platforms don’t have the deep pockets like Big Tech does, so we must donate to them to keep them running, progressing, and to provide alternatives to using the compromised Big Tech platforms. I also set a monthly donation to Internet Archive because, ya know, it’s Internet Archive that also hosts the Wayback Machine, and we need a curator for antiquated internet content. Especially more now than ever since Elon Musk cut their government funding. The evil powers that be are trying desperately to erase any historical evidence that is a threat to their agenda, so they can set up a nihilistic world that not only benefits them, but also one where they can ignore laws and make their own rules. The internet is in danger, and I don’t think people are taking it seriously enough. The fediverse is the future.

Future Knowledge | The Open Web at a Crossroads: A Conversation with Vint Cerf, Brewster Kahle, Cindy Cohn & Jon Stokes | Podcastindex.org What made the early web so thrilling, and how do we reclaim that spirit today? In this special episode, recorded at Georgetown University’s historic Riggs Library, leaders who helped build the internet and those fighting for its future come together to chart a path forward.Featuring Brewster Kahle (Internet Archive), Vint Cerf (Google), Cindy Cohn (EFF), and Jon Stokes (Ars Technica), and moderated by Luke Hogg of the Foundation for American Innovation, this conversation looks back at the web’s origins to imagine what a truly open, innovative, and empowering internet could still become.This...

DW AfricaLink | Ghana's cocoa price slash sparks outrage | Podcastindex.org Ghana's cocoa industry is facing a major shake-up after the government slashed the producer price by 28%. It's a heavy blow for many of the country's 800,000 cocoa farmers. But officials say they were forced into the decision after global cocoa prices plunged. Eddy Micah Jr. speaks with Nana Aduna II of the Ghana National Association of Cocoa farmers and DW correspondent Eric Mawuena Egbeta.

I haven't seen almost anyone here talking about Psiphon Conduit. Much of last month there was over 10 million daily devices connected to it in #Iran. It's now reporting just over 300 in with the ongoing internet blackout still in place.
