Thank you, Sumitra--so scary to post non-fiction!
So in a completely terrifying and vulnerable shift from my normal flash, I wrote a very personal essay, up at Herstry today. Hope it resonates. herstryblg.com/true/2026/3/...
Congratulations, James!
First, AI-fear took away my em dash. Now, to ensure my work isn't mistaken for AI I'm supposed to stop w/ the rule of 3? There's a brain reason 3 works. The smallest # to establish pattern. I was just polishing a micro & forced myself to go to 4. It didn't work. We can't let fear take good writing!
Iβm so glad to see this story by @jaimegill.bsky.social back in the world. Itβs so good. The concept is so unique, but not at the expense of the narrative.
Itβs such an honor to be called out by @turnandwork.com, and I may need to paint Hughβs kind words on my wall for those days when I feel like I canβt write!
Thanks so much for reading and sharing, Kelly!

I love everything about this story.
Well, now, that one punched me in the gut. Each word and image just right. And the title!
Thank you to @gonelawn.bsky.social for sharing my story about a girls' camp and a sinkhole: "One, Nothing Goes in the Hole, and Two, No One Goes in the Hole." Sink holes are a bit of a fear of mine... gonelawn.net/journal/issu...
Thanks, James!

Not sure how I missed this one. "[F]loating in My Hyunβs anti-gravity living-room was like an exorcism, where the heavy part of you disappears, the part that fears falling." What a perfect blend of weight and humor--shows how they can really enhance each other (when done as deftly as this!). So good
"I bought a pack at the gas station, the same kind she smoked, so I could show up one night and say, What are the odds?! and mean What are the odds someone like you could love someone like me?"
What a phenomenal piece of writing.
Check out βOne, Nothing Goes in the Hole, and Two, No One Goes in the Holeβ in the amazing Worm Moon issue of @gonelawn.bsky.social today! This one started in @notquitewrite.com last year gonelawn.net/journal/issu...
Chet and his chicken.
So Earth and History...I looked for the J in the thread, but no luck. I'm going to go with "Flowery" for the F genre..., "Bizarro" for the B, and "Jester" for the J.
Have we (collectively) figured out all 5 genres yet?
"Skitzy texts me to meet her up at the old tent and to bring a chocolate cake and a pregnancy test"
Ooft - @emilyrinkema.bsky.social is soo good! Love how this one builds but leaves the reader without a full sense of resolution.
Genre! Nice!
