I was at a conference on Wednesday, made me want to visit Portlaoise. They’re on a path to being a Low Carbon town, part of transitioning from region previously so dependant on peat and the bogs. More on www.laois.ie Other local authorities should also take note.

Why we are no longer posting on X
In line with University of Limerick’s ongoing commitment to providing engaging, transparent, diverse and positive communications through our digital channels, the University has conducted a review of its presence on the X platform (formerly Twitter).
Due to the sustained decline in engagement, concern as to the veracity of performance data, the prevalence of automated traffic, an ongoing EU regulatory review, and the increased presence of toxic content, UL will cease posting on the X platform. This decision aligns with our commitment to responsible digital communication and safeguarding our online community as well as our own team members. The University will continue to prioritise social media platforms that provide a safe, engaging, and effective environment to communicate with our audiences, while remaining open to reassessing this decision should the platform’s content moderation practices and user experience significantly improve in future
Today UL has made the decision to no longer post on X

JD Vance, fresh off of helping his boss ambush & insult a foreign leader in the White House yesterday afternoon, is on vacation in
We need to salute courage wherever it appears.
The official snow reporter at Vermont's Sugarbush, where JD Vance came on a skiing vacation this weekend, pointed out in her snow report this a.m. that the Trump team is ignoring climate change.

Fintan O’Toole: We’re heading for the second biggest fiscal disaster in the history of the State
The idea that the Green Party was making us all go too far too fast is the exact opposite of the truth
Brilliant article today in @IrishTimes by @Fintan O’Toole. Nails it! This isn’t just a Green Party issue. Even though they were blamed.

The joys of overhead power lines. Map of outages today. 400k homes. Lot of trees down but, thankfully, so far, no casualties or fatalities.

Will admit I went back to the old place tonight for the memes and wasn’t disappointed. Hilarious!
The show has, so far, raised over €4m for charity tonight just after few hours on air ….

#StormDarragh certainly packed a punch. Worst I’ve ever experienced, based inland in #Clare.
The noise of it!
Power gone since 23.15 It’s going to take a while to restore, judging by this map. Estimating 17.00.
Grateful to all the @esbnetworks.bsky.social crew who’ll be out as soon as it’s safe .

#StormDaragh now elevated to RED weather alert in Western counties. Serious weather event. Advice is to take measures to protect yourself and your property. No travel except for emergencies. Power outages likely.
