And like, sure. The UN, WHO, WTO, etc. should be more effective.
But for every boondoggle, I'd wager there's a "small g" globalist organization like @unicode.org quietly changing the world.

I've been a unicode fangirl for years. Even so, I came away from this talk amazed at the impact of global standards like this.
Think about it: ~5.25-5.75 billion people can use computers and cell phones in their native language.
That didn't just happen.
