3/ I set up a "Sleep / Wake" profile that blocks all the dumb phone things I waste time on when I go to bed or after I wake up. The Brick is in another room so to un-Brick, I would have to go touch the Brick. Instead, with the dumb stuff blocked, I've been ending/starting my day reading books.
2/ Brick is like ScreenTime in spirit but if, for example, you set up an "out to dinner" profile and leave the Brick at home, you are locked out of whatever apps you blocked while you're at dinner because you can't access those apps until you tap the Brick again. (You get 5 "emergency" un-bricks.)
1/ My favorite new product: Brick. Set up profiles like "out to dinner" or "work" w/ apps you want to block in those contexts. Tap the Brick & those apps are unavailable to you until you tap the device again & un-Brick. This review explains how it works.

a package was misdelivered to my house and the recipient name was a little unusual so I googled it and ended up on a LinkedIn profile. I burned an InMail reaching out and the story ended with that person picking up the package at my place this morning. LinkedIn and Christmas - killer combo.

my family has a pet parakeet & when we got him I wasn't a "bird person" (in fact, I was highly skeptical of birds as pets) but 4 years later every morning when I wake up, I talk to the bird and flap my arms like I'm flying which causes him to flap his wings in response. A great way to start the day.

I use Rev.com for this. I've transcribed 100s of hours of interviews, mostly from conducting interviews in 360s in my coaching work. Another way is to use ChatGPT voice mode and tell it you're going to read out some text. It'll capture the text in the process and you can just cut and paste it.

saw M Ward do a show at Cafe Carlyle last night and it was magical. I’ve spent so many nights standing in a dank venue drinking PBR seeing shows but seated in a plush club a little dressed up having steak frites and a couple of martinis is a nice way to do it now and then.

Last night I saw Bit Brigade, a band from Athens, GA that does live soundtracks to classic video games (one of the band members is at the front of the stage playing the game). I'm not super into video games or metal these days but it was incredible. Go see them!

I got an email recently that had an old-school note at the bottom that urged me not to print the email for environmental reasons and I thought that was so adorable. Reminded me of simpler times.
