Absolutely they did that to keep numbers up, but on the side they also kept making guides and reporting on events. But I do agree I see less game reviews overall and definitely less Indie game reviews.

As long as it’s flagged as E.A. It’s all fair game. The game is released, you can criticize it.
It would be insane to give an unfinished game a 10/10 for potential to be good. You have to judge what’s in front of you. Be it a vertical slice, the first couple hours, or an unfinished full version!
Ideally Kaiju, Godzilla/Pacific Rim style, over mothership invasion Independence day style.
