Thanks! It is a theme I have wanted to design a game to for a long time, and it finally clicked.

5. Riddance. This is a multivictor dice and cards game. Early design. This will definitely hit the table at Unpub to get some new feedback.
4. Udder Chaos. This is a silly nonlinear roll-and-move for families about hyperactive cows. Complete with moo-ples, this game can introduce kids to games and still entertain adults, with individual goals, higher-order thinking, and basic math.
Armory being played on a table at Unpub
3. Armory. This also got table time at Unpub last year. This is a market-driven card drafting, contract-fulfillment game about equipping your medieval warriors with their needed armor and weaponry before going to battle.
Community Park being played on a table at Unpub.
2. Community Park. This got table time at Unpub last year. It is a tile drafting and placement game about building a multi-purpose park. It has distinctive diamond and chevron shaped tiles and some area majority.
The Great Patch prototype on a table at Granite Game Summit.
I am bringing 5 prototypes with me to @unpub this year. That said, The Great Patch is my main focus.
1. The Great Patch is a cooperative engine builder (and more) about reducing the amount of plastic in The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Along with other times, it will be Fri 3-5 and Sat 4:30-8:30
Follow this new game studio!! The game designer is a great person and his 🎲✂️ are amazing, thought-provoking, and original. I cannot wait to see what @hawkanddovegames.bsky.social is going to do!
I am so excited for you Brooks! I wish you all the best in your and Catie’s adventure!!
Thanks Sarah! I appreciate it. It always comes together somehow, so I just need to convert the stress into energy!
Hopefully, we will meet at the event so I can thank you in person.
Who wants to help me 🎲✂️ a worker placement game about Erik the Red? Would that even work?
I think the story of his travel from Norway, temporary exile from Iceland, exploration of Greenland, and founding of the first European settlement in Greenland is a compelling theme, but is it Colonialism?
I am exhausted and feeling a bit burnt out with work, which would normally be crazy since I was on vacation the week before last. But sandwiching that vacay has been long long hours.
Worst part - I have done nothing on my Unpub to do list, which I must complete before Wednesday.
Sigh.
Post your favorite Lord of the Rings character. Wrong answers only.
To do before Unpub:
- Update The Great Patch 🎲✂️from this weekend’s testing feedback
- Create first round script for teach
- Create sell sheet
- Create add’l promo material
- Work on panel presentation
- Update game directory entries
- Pack
- Sleep
Guess which one I will probably not do enough?
Add one word to a film to ruin it.
Rear Window Treatment
If you need another, I can jump in. I am arriving Wednesday evening, so I am definitely around.
The very engaging and clever 1v1 card battler Fight Sequence, by Jamie Sabriel, and Aquatica. Aquatica, which I bought on Saturday, is a fun engine builder with a wonderful single-card restraint mechanism.
Well, another @g2summit.bsky.social has come and gone. I could not attend for as much as I wanted to or usually do, but it was awesome all the same. The organizers do an amazing job putting on this fantastic game-playing event!
I capped off my time today playing
1/2
Played two prototypes from other designers today, plus played in one of the two tests of my game, then had a great 4p game of Clank in Space followed by playing another unsigned game twice.
And I caught up with and met some great people!
Gosh, I love @g2summit.bsky.social .
The engine building is working well and the timing is much better; sitting around or under 90 minutes.
Two playtests, one complete, of The Great Patch today @g2summit.bsky.social , with great feedback and information learned. ✂️🎲 I have a few things to do ahead of @unpub.org !! Some more late nights a-coming!!
Prototype of The Great Patch being played by four people
The Great Patch is under way @g2summit.bsky.social
I know it has been released, but I have not seen it around either
I am still up for getting 7 Wonders Dice to the table with you if we can find a copy. I will be arriving soon for the Alley and then all night and tomorrow morning
I was not taken by Harmonies either. I wanted to like it more. I will stick with Azul and Cascadia for now
Picture of many game components in a haphazard array, including dozens of dice, dice bags, a round metal tin, and empty ink cartridge box, printouts of cards yet to be cut, a paper cutter, etc. there is also a piece of paper that read as “The Great Patch” designed by Bill Huffman, cooperative engine builder about reducing plastic waste in The Great Pacific Garbage Patch
What do you mean I have to have my game ready to demo in a few hours?!
I am currently very deep in a final review of a proposal where we are doing live group work via all-day meeting. So, it is just a lot right now. Normally not a “grind.”
I am a proposal editor for a large health and human services company.
I have not had a chance to look yet. But you have me excited to do just that!
Printed prototype cards for The Great Patch, showing the card fronts and backs for Pollution cards and one blank Conservation Action card. The Great Patch is a cooperative engine builder about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
While grinding through another work day, I am pecking away at all the 🎲✂️ prep for showing The Great Patch tomorrow at 2 pm during Designers Alley at @g2summit.bsky.social .
I have enough time, right? Right?
Count me in!
