Three-point perspective doodle that I did for an exercise for practice purposes. Haven't done it much before, and it took a while to get something that worked out at this particular angle. Keeping it grayscale since i haven't practiced coloring yet. Definitely worth the struggle though :D

With that last post it made me realize I'm always questioning how to stylize my sona's hair.... If I try to make it more accurate to my bedhead-ass hair texture irl it looks EXTREMELY ugly in my opinion haha. I might have to make it look more simplified than that if I want it to look decent.

Proportions are fun and scaling is going to be an interesting challenge when I get around to committing more towards it..... (I promise I enjoy character design, guys 🥹)

Body proportions are a big thing but I want Dew in particular to feel potentially at least somewhat imposing in stature compared whatever the main humanoid species of the lore will be, which is why.

Although with a tape measure I realize going off of those heights makes them all feel HUGE.

There are a few specific reasons why I'm off and on about JB's height in particular but they will likely be no taller than 5' 2" / ~158cm and no shorter than 4' 8" / 142cm.

My current "idea" for their height is about 6' 2" / ~188cm. Marmalade is supposed to be a few inches taller at typical standing height (since their neck can move and stuff). JB is interesting because at first I wanted to emphasize them being rather small compared to the others, but I'm not so sure.

Dewdrop is a bit silly because in the past they were short. I didn't have an exact height but they were shorter than another OC of mine who was already meant to be a little bit shorter than human height (possibly).

Now I'm leaning on a bigger and taller version; However YOU (reader) may be taller

I connect most meaningfully one-on-one even if it inevitably places a little bit more mental energy on a single individual most likely.

-rather than them blooming naturally. And I have been in ones that have bloomed naturally (even irl), but there are always concessions. I think I'm just not that kind of person and I'm trying to realize that that's A-OK because I'm not going to be compatible with the group most of the time.

Out of context this might sound overdramatic (for some given recent developments...) I realize I think I need to accept that I just do not fit into friend groups easily. It's not that I can't interact with them but it's that a lot of times it feels like I'm inserting myself into them-

Okay, while I have some concessions, I am admittedly actually fairly proud/happy with this drawing. JB has become a fav of mine to draw recently; I just think they're cute.

I plan to draw them more, but their design isn't without a few hiccups.

For example: like big fat slime humanoid? Then you have Dewdrop. Cute creature? Jellybean. Pear dragon shape with long neck? Marmalade. And potentially others and variations on those shapes as I go on to do things.

Not to sound calculating, but I realized I've had some thoughts at times like, "I wonder if having such variation in my slime characters without being explicitly shapeshifting is weird."

And maybe it is, but I am afforded the opportunity to tap into a few different types of body shape interests.

But yeah, idk cause I feel like i pay a lot of -almost too much- attention to my interactions with people, but then don't use that information to help me have better conversations in the future.

And yeah I still can't sleep.

I'm gonna be working on taking better hints from when I talk to folks and adapting my conversations better based on my experiences with them. I think it will save me a world of trouble.

And yes, I am aware this post vaguely lumps a lot of communities together, and perhaps foolishly, but I feel it applies, especially when dealing with the most vulnerable groups at any given time.

I probably sound preachy and cliché but I really hope we can remember our empathy. A house divided cannot stand, especially in circumstances that are not in our favor to begin with.

I thought about it because after reading some stuff, it really does seem like a few issues are, in fact, the result of us trying to deal with the pain that is dealt to us as communities. Unfortunately, it can lead to misplaced attacks from within the house, so to speak...
