i started listening to Gavin Newsom's new autobiography and boy the way it glosses over certain things is fascinating. like 'my dad suddenly left one day for Reasons and he was Gone after that but i still have way more good memories of him than of my mom who I barely mention.'

I think that was intentional, given they make Crichton a big Kirk fan. I think it was kinda doing the same thing that Deep Space Nine had been doing earlier, deconstructing the idea of a 'noble' mission, and how an idealistic vision can be flawed or corrupted when dealing with a wider universe.

i really enjoyed that one! it was very sweet

if you never watched the Peacekeeper Wars "miniseries" (it's two 1.5 hour movies), definitely check them out! They really give the series a nice ending. They're on Tubi!

Eh, I'll probably poke around more and figure it out eventually. My site is squarespace so it has its own issues. Basically tried to throw one together for my blog+feedburner. It's validated but clicking the button never goes to a page with blog result, just opens what I think is the xml file

Neoclassical for gov buildings has always been ideologically hit or miss. At its best it's harkening back to the idealistic form of democracy born in the idea of every voice being heard. At its worst it's an alter to a deeply hateful past, incapable of looking to the future in a meaningful way.

I would love for Bryan Fuller to do a Piranesi miniseries. Seems like it's set to be a Laika animated movie which will also be cool, but I'd love to see Fuller's extravagant maximalist take on it.
