Shane and Ilya went through a rough patch, and then Ilya's father died, and then Shane got his bell rung. It should've been smooth sailing from there. Shane got better. Scott Hunter came out. Shane invited him to his cottage, and Ilya said yes. He said yes. And then— They got one day. One day together. He could laugh if he wasn't so numb. Now — July 2027 Even now, after all these years; , he's not sure who he's more angry at: the universe, for breaking the rule of threes, or his brother, for killing himself and ruining everything.

The camera shakes as the person behind it nods, and then Shane lowers himself into a plank. His form is perfect, palms and elbows on the floor, body straight out behind him. He's effortless, all smooth lines and bulging muscles, and Ilya could stare at him for days. "This is really a viral trend right now?" Shane asks, incredulous. "I doubt this is that exciting to watch." It's Harris' voice that answers. Of course it is. "It is, it's all about how long you can last. All the guys'll do it too. Do you think you'll last the longest?" It's the perfect thing to say. Ilya's grip on the phone tightens as he see's Shane smirk. "We'll see." And then he holds himself perfectly still.

"You're starting to shake a little, Holz." "Am not," he says, petulant, like a five-year-old, even though he definitely is. There's a tremor in his arms. "You're almost at 2 minutes," Harris says, and Shane stares at the ground. He lets out another harsh breath. He adjusts his hands and pushes out from where his body had started to sag. He's getting flushed, Ilya can see. Shane breathes in slow, controlled exhales, but his face is reddening. He adjusts his hands again. "Two fifteen," Harris says, voice bright. "How you doing, man?" "Great" Shane grits out.

Ilya opens the cabinets, taking stock. There's pasta and jars of sauce, and different kinds of uncooked rice. In one cabinet, in a corner and looking freshly new, is canned tuna. When Ilya checks, there's fresh cheese in the fridge. "Did you buy things for tuna melts?" Shane doesn't lift his head from where it's laid on his folded arms. "Did I?" "You have all the ingredients." "I might've. I kinda just—threw things in my cart. I didn't think too hard about what I was buying." Ilya doesn't know what to do with that. He taps a knuckle on the counter. "Do you want one? I can make."
