Heute wurde das #SadSign umgebaut. Das große Schild ist nach hinten gewandert. Vorne bleibt ein kleines zurück, das nun ein Gummigelenk hat: Ein Stehauf-Sign.

Damit endet diese Geschichte wohl nach 1½ Jahren und 28 Bänden.

If that is the case, this sounds stunningly like Eschede, where a derailed car also got deflected by a switch leading to the catastrophy. There a slight delay helped, that the oncoming train already passed the crash-site and was not involved in the crash as well.

Since the weld broke on the outer Rail, I assume the initial derailment happened to the right. This would probably lead to the left wheels of the derailed cars getting caught in in the left turning outer rail of the switch deflecting them to the left and into the coming train.

According to this article only the last 3 cars derailed and hit the oncoming train. Since this happened at the location of a switch, it is quite possible that the derailed 3 cars stayed on track until they hit the switch and got deflected to the left by the switch

Since this is the outer rail, I would have expected a derailment to the outside. So I ask myself how the train then got to the inside to collide with the second one.
