Things are not going to get better as long as oligarchs rule the roost in our democracies | George Monbiot
If we want the kind of fair, functioning state Britain saw post-1945, we need to take on the economic powers that wrecked it, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot
From 1941 to 1952 in the UK, the top rate of income tax was 98%. A luxury goods purchase tax introduced in 1940 later rose to 100%.
Result? The share of incomes captured by the richest 0.1% fell from 7% in 1937 to just over 1% in 1975. That's what we need today. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

To the Starmerrhoids I haven't got round to blocking yet: Starmer is objectively the least popular PM on record: whingeing about this doesn't change the record. Labour is just like Reform to the extent that y'all whine it isn't fair when directed to the objective record.

Never. The reality is unions' main power is collective negotiation and they won't uncouple themselves from the government because it stops them doing that.
Like Labour MPs, if the unions had any intention of standing up for humanity they would have done it by now.

Oh yes, but I was talking about the point of Labour. A replacement Green/Lib Dems government would derail that point π

I'll promise you they won't.
The prospect of facing reselection by their local party in 2029 would make them fear for their careers.

The point of Labour is to fail and make way for a Reform government.

I live in Ladywood constituency and last night I dreamt the next election was so split we ended up with a Lib Dem MP, who usually come last.

That would be a reasonable assumption except Labour think their constituency is Reform voters and those scary men who dress up in Nazi uniform at home.
Their perception of everything else is bound to be wrong, they're even mystified that most of their constituency have gone Green!

I don't believe the canvasser. Only a small proportion of political party members actually get to the point of canvassing and if you're only staying in for that reason you certainly wouldn't canvass for the party.
Liebour not Labour.

It looks like the Green Party has by far the best defence policy of all.
Renewable energy; wind, solar, wave and tidal power.
Renewables donβt get stuck or blown up in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Starmerrhoids have been absolutely raging the past couple of days.
Good. That means the upper echelons of the Liebour Party and their billionaire masters are rattled by the Green Menace. π
