The DHS Attorney who had a viral public meltdown in court at the height of the ICE occupation because it was too hard to follow court orders is now running for Congress as, get this, a Democrat. If we can learn what district she is running in, we can ask why she signed up to keep folks detained.

Thank you to the original cosponsors:
Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, Congressman Warren Davidson, Congressman Glenn Grothman, Congressman Clay Higgins, Congresswoman Nancy Mace, Rep. Scott Perry, U.S. Representative Chip Roy

Thomas Massie may be on the right side of a couple issues today, but we shouldn’t forget that he’s bought and paid for by Big Listeria.

This has been pointed out many times (including by Evan!), but it bears repeating that this is the same playbook used to sow suspicion on vaccinations and the existence of climate change.

the thing is that it won't matter because Americans react minor inconveniences the way people in other countries react to a sinkhole opening up and swallowing the national capital during a presidential address

love how we killed the old, frail anti-nuke ayatollah just to have him replaced with his young, healthy son who wants nukes and who just had his father, mother, wife, and child murdered on the same day by his mortal enemy. surely this will bring peace to the region

Still crazy that the president’s lawyer spent two days with Ghislaine Maxwell, she β€œcleared” him of wrongdoing and was almost immediately transferred to a more pleasant prison and nobody in the administration will explain it and the media acts like two large dots are just impossible to connect.

It's hard to internalize the fact that the administration really does believe the Iraq war was "woke" and that they would be able to easily defeat a substantially more powerful nation simply by being based chads

The Discourse has become sort of numb to the fact that the richest guy on earth and owner of a major social media platform just routinely spits out the kind of nakedly white supremacist shit that until a decade ago you rarely saw outside of places like Stormfront.

When The War Goes AI, The Data Centers Will Be Targets (f/Engadget's Devindra Hardawar) We talk Anthropic, OpenAI, Iran and the mil-tech oligarchy. Children will be sent to protect data centers the way their fathers were sent to protect oil fields

One of the things the Iran War is clarifying is that AI integration into the military will mean that your children will be sent to war in the Middle East to protect the data centers of the Gulf and Israel.

Also, here’s a podcast episode where I talk AI, Anthropic & Iran with @devindra.bsky.social:

EXCLUSIVE: I’m the Palestinian Who Has Been in ICE Detention for Almost a Year Don't forget us on International Women's Day, writes Leqaa Kordia.

Leqaa Kordia, in her own words, for @zeteo.com.

Leqaa should be free. Her captors, and whichever outside organization collaborated with them, should be the ones in cages.

This repeats yet another pattern from the Iraq War. When the Iraqis did not behave as the Americans wanted β€” without the deference and gratitude that a foreign military occupier felt it was due β€” they became targets.

I think that’s why he bristled when people tried to apply allegory and say it’s all about WW1, this guy is making actual languages and thinking about what kind of pie crust the Brandybucks use, to say it’s about one thing is ridiculous, it’s about one man being absolutely horny for middle earth

Every book nowadays has to be an expanded universe and you can tell when authors are being cynical and mercenary about the entire thing and there’s something wonderful about a guy who built a world just because he likes doing it so much, all of this was a bookish British guys hobby as much as a job

You have to love that Tolkien couldn’t stop writing about the little world he made. He had maps, he had functional languages, he had little recipes for his little hungry hobbits, and 90% of this stuff wasn’t ever meant to be published, he just loved his creation and enjoyed visiting and taking notes
