What we found: The chloroplast stress signalling nucleotide ppGpp helps plants tolerate high light.
When ppGpp levels rise, plants seem better prepared- not just by boosting photoprotection (NPQ), but by reprogramming metabolism and antioxidant defences to handle light stress.
