Me: here is a list of settlements where a siren was activated recently
Them: aha! You admit the Israeli government only prioritises West Bank settlement likeβ¦ Beβer Sheva!
And these are people Iβm then expected to speak to like adults.
This is a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things, but the fact that certain internet leftists have become incapable of hearing the term βsettlementβ (anywhere people live) without turning it into βillegal West Bank settlementβ in their heads is so unbearably tedious.
Another sigh.
βSettlementβ is the correct term for places humans live. It encompasses towns, villages, cities, etc., JUST LIKE THE LIST I POSTED. If youβd taken a moment to read, youβd have seen that the overwhelming majority of the settlements on the list are not in the West Bank.
This, for example, is a (partial) list of the settlements where alarms were activated two hours ago, so probably the barrage depicted in this video. You can see several Arab and Druze towns (Majdal Shams, Kuseife, etc.) on the list.
Sigh.
Interceptors are triaged to prioritize inhabited areas over open fields or agricultural land.
There is a problem in the south, where many Bedouins who live in "unrecognized" towns lack interceptor coverage. It is not a an issue in the north.

Lots of dunks on this news on my feed, but we're all going to be eating crow when it turns out Winslet is playing Shelob
As someone who had not watched Rebels, I was amused by him constantly reacting to any setback or defeat with "ah! just as I had planned!" but having consulted with my friends I'm not sure I was meant to conclude that he was just bullshitting.
Even the headline you're quoting doesn't say anyone has been arrested.
People are advised not to identify impact locations, so as not to perform the enemy's target calibration for them. But it's not illegal and you can't get arrested for it, as you can tell by the fact that a lot of people still take videos and put them online.
There are thousands of videos taken by Israelis online, what the fuck are you talking about
My impression is that the people who insist on a meaningful distinction between reviewer and critic are trying to find a way to silo off the reviews they donβt like or consider too harsh. I tend to use the terms interchangeably.
The entire series is excellent, but this is particularly good

Tel Aviv is not "locked down". There are restrictions on public gatherings and workplaces, and the schools are closed, so there are fewer people on the street than normal. But there's still plenty of activity - more than, for example, during the COVID lockdowns.
It is, in fact, untrue.

The Great Tolkien Reread takes a swerve into shlock horror with "Fog on the Barrow-Downs", a chapter that wouldn't feel out of place in a pulp magazine, but which is also a major turning point for Frodo in his relationship to danger.

I think it might be my favorite too, but the Herring suited my theme of shlock too well not to use it as the essay illustration.
As always, all entries in the Great Tolkien Reread can be found at: wrongquestions.blogspot.com/search/label...
"Under the Spell of the Barrow-Wight" by Ted Nasmith
"The Barrow-Wight" by Matthew Stewart
Here is the same scene, illustrated by Ted Nasmith, and by Matthew Stewart. Sound off in the replies with your own favorite versions!
The illustration for this chapter is by Michael Herring, and depicts Frodo fighting off the barrow wight who has captured and enchanted his friends. Unsurprisingly, this evocative scene has received many artistic renditions.

In what way is adding fruit or sweetener to yogurt "ultra-processing" it? We already have a term for that sort of food - high in sugar - and we have actual science about why it's bad for you. There's no need for another term that doesn't actually apply to the food itself, or its effects.
This is clearly about actor availability, though. Page has made it clear heβs not interested in being a supporting character, and Bailey is being gracious by doing one episode a season. Thereβs only so much the show can do with that.
