Michael May right now about the latest episode of @hellbentforletterbox.com
Oops! But also, not sorry.
The only thing I'm sorry about is that there aren't 13 more movies with Dale Evans playing this character.
Never got around to seeing the movie, so will put this one on hold. But checked out what you are doing next. Fun choice! Have not seen it in 15 years, I think, but liked it then. Looking forward to seeing it again. Great cast!!

Here we go again. Watching a non-Western Western.
New episode of @hellbentforletterbox.com
For the second time in Hellbent history, @michaelmay.bsky.social accidentally picks a non-historical Western. This time he has @paxholley.com join him on a 1940s dude ranch for Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, and Gabby Hayes in Don't Fence Me In.

Watched this for an actor who's barely in it, but I'm glad to have seen it if only to compare it to the better version with Gary Cooper.

This sounds good. A young Pinkerton Agent named Clare Wright goes undercover to investigate a series of robberies in 1890 New Mexico.

Who is this cowboy with a secret identity?
I wonder if Ruben Γstlund watched Winchester 73 when he came up with Force Majeure π
@hellbentforletterbox.com Doing a Jimmy Stewart and Anthony Mann double feature tonight!
Sweet! I can't wait to watch The Far Country.
I also recommend Bend of the River from them and Julie Adams (Creature from the Black Lagoon) and Rock Hudson.
Man from Laramie is good too.
Dang. I should start picking these for the show like I did with the Ranown movies. [MM]

I like Young Bill Hickok and Jesse James at Bay. Those would make a fun triple-feature with Billy the Kid Returns. [MM]

The cover is a painted image of Maverick walking down a sidewalk.
This interior illustration by Toth shows Maverick and two other men tied up in a cave while another man stands guard.
Today in random stuff from my collection, a 1958 Maverick storybook featuring interior art by Alex Toth.
Thanks! Yeah the more I talked about it the more I was disappointed with it.
Before the next episode Iβd only seen two of Royβs movies and neither were βtraditionalβ Roy Rogers movies.
Great episode, great talk, ok movie. Chisum gets 2 awkward John Wayneβs, the talk gets 4 awkward John Wayneβs.
Btw, never seen a Roy Rogers movie π±
If you watch Don't Fence Me In for the next episode, I'm sorry it'll be your first one. Not for quality reasons, but just because it's not actually an historical Western.
If you want to try some others, Pax and I can make some recommendations. They're pretty fun. [MM]
Never heard of this one, but it's going on the list. [MM]
Brand new episode!
Mike and Pax talk about Chisum from 1970 starring John Wayne, Ben Johnson, Forrest Tucker, Patric Knowles, and Bruce Cabot.
