Well I would care if the intent was to actually help unhoused folks and then it turned into some stupid initiative that would bring more assholes to the neighborhood. Like how many people would really want to have an ice housing facility etc. Use does matter even if folks claim they don't care
CDC still attends GOARN calls and we still use EIOS.
Not saying this would have changed anything but they didn't have conditions attached to the zoning change and the cba talk seemed half baked. The main critique I heard was that once rezoned this could be used for something different... conditions and a cba would have killed that argument.
Wow - you could hear the froth around their mouths
Given we are likely heading into another government shut down this week. In solidarity, please consider donating to the CDC Mutual Aid Fund. We still have over 40 former CDC colleagues on our waiting list and could really use the funding boost ahead of this furlough. www.cdcresourceportal.org

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.
The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
You're paying for this.
Trump's Big Ugly Bill gave BILLIONS to ICE and giant corporationsโusing money meant to lower your health care costs.
Instead of helping your mom get cancer treatment, your tax dollars are being used to terrorize communities.
Importantly space is limited. Do not sign up as a place holder. Only sign up if you are sure you can attend. thanks.

Sounds like Sam is the guy to contact on this one ๐ซ
Rubio ๐คฎ is using lifesaving US health aid as leverage to force Zambia into mineral extraction deals. He is dismantling programs that saved millions, extending life expectancy by decades, and replacing partnership with coercion. This is exploitation, not diplomacy!
Nope!
Also several agencies have set up mutual aid to support each other:

Those lucky enough to apply for unemployment early received $300/wk regardless of household size. Current and former CDC staff are facing housing and food insecurity. This week we have over 100 applicants on our waitlist - anything you can give would be amazing: www.zeffy.com/en-US/donati...
Not all "federal workers" receive back pay. About half of our colleagues that applied to the fund during the furlough were contractors whose companies provided no back pay at all. Some companies even dropped their benefits completely - leaving staff without health coverage for almost 2 months.
I mean, it is the nyt ๐ซ
As a CDC staff - I do not support this message. It's a false narrative, not bound in science, that RFK is pushing. This harmful communication will result in more deaths in our communities. ๐

The longest government shutdown in U.S. history has ended, but the uncertainty for federal workers is far from over. โEven with back pay, weโll still be starting behind and playing catch-up for a while,โ said one Veterans Affairs employee who was furloughed for weeks. nyti.ms/4i4bP56
