I think in law (and tax) it’s not actually that hard for the AI to know the law, but it’s *very* hard for the AI to know enough about a person’s situation to accurately assess what should be done, not least because people are terrible at describing what is happening in terms that are useful to a pro

I think this is a great thread, but I think it is important to consider what, exactly, was the thing that convinced them that fascism wasn't worth it. America has been, perhaps, not harsh enough with our own fascists - lots of Confederate flags around, still.

I think this is basically the same way the reactionary centrists talk about Trump voters, and I think if the Trump era has taught us anything, its that compromising with bigots in order to achieve power does not result in less bigotry in the long run, no matter how prudent it might seem.

I think social media is bad in this regard, but growing up in a household with Fox News on all the time in the late 90’s/early 00’s, my parents were well trained in hearing everything through a lens of bad faith. I think society’s transition to this state was well underway before social media
