Three small drawings: One of a shrine under a pine tree with a stone inside, one of a salamander on the forest floor, one of a coastal path with stone steps, two tall trees, stone columns and two hikers in the distance. The overall feel is very late summer to early autumn.
ok I will stop fiddling with this now
Yes agree! ππ Thanks for sharing the inspo too πͺ»β¨
I also love your work! I usually just quietly enjoy it but yeah maybe I should comment more often so you feel the APPRECIATION πππβ¨ (thank you)!
Using AI for your art references not only gives you a skewed & inaccurate view of the world, it also puts resource providers like myself & all these awesome people out of work!
Using REAL photo references is what levels up your art AND supports the stock/resource community! β€οΈπͺ
Lovely idea ππ

"Climate collapse is still on the horizon (...) AI is poised to make it all so much worse. But would you like to see this drawing I've made?
The thing is, if anyone asks me that question - I would. I would like to see that drawing. I need art (...) more than ever right now."
Yes π£ππ
Photo shows a sketchbook sitting open on a wooden desk easel. The sketchbook shows a painting created with gouache paint, an opaque watercolor medium. The painting depicts a nature scene of a pathway between large redwood trees on a sunny day with bright light shining through green leaves.

A photo of my comic, Lavender Clouds. It is a hardback square book with a drawing of Bex in the middle. She is sat on a pile of clouds, and there are clouds all around the cover. The subtitle reads "Comics about Neurodivergence and Mental Health". The clouds are pink and have foiling to make them shiny. The drawing of Bex has spot gloss.
A comic about self acceptance. Bex contemplates her life amongst a clouds sky. The text reads, "I used to long for clear skies. I felt like I was drowning in an ocean of grey while everyone else's world was so full of colour. The clouds made it hard to see clearly but after a while, I figured out how to be OK with them. The sky doesn't need to be clear to be beautiful.
A comic. Bex laughs confidently in a few different posts. She says, "haha, look at me go! Being charming and cracking jokes like a little socialite. I'm completely nailing this." She falls to her knees with her hands on her head, cringing at herself, "haha, wow, I'm ABSOLUTELY INSUFFERABLE!"
The title is "which type of neurodivergent are you?" There are 5 different drawings on the page, all themed under a different heading. 1) The full-time actor. Bex shrugs at the camera and says, "wait, an I doing this right? Should I be moving my hands more?' 2) The dedicated planner. Bex twirls a pen while holding a sheet of paper. "If I leave myself reminders to remember to use my planner, then maybe..." 3) The collector: a tired and sleepless bex holds onto a collector's book. "This is my life's work. This is everything." 4) The expert. Bex clasps her hands together with enthusiasm. "Hello would you like to hear an extremely obscure fact about a 30 year old anime?" 5) The good listener. Bex is distressed and tired. "I couldn't sleep because of the sound of the tap dripping downstairs."
My comic came out this year! I think it would make a really nice end-of-2024 treat :>

If you're wondering how bad things were at Pixar for women, the answer is pretty horrifyingly bad.
Photo of a colourful sketchbook page, showing the text 'I love someone who is Autistic (it's me)' with lots of flowing colourful fluffy, flowery, soft noodley shapes. Overall it gives a soft, pastel, calm vibe.
I've recently been converted to the idea of seeing my art practice as medicineπ±π

Image. Soft golden sunlight streams down into a greenhouse, little motes of dust float suspended. A deer-person with soft freckled skin and cosy clothing stands in the middle of the room, reading from a book they hold in their hands. Old wooden tables house terracotta pots and large-leaved plants. There are buttery yellow flowers. There are arched windows set into old wobbly brick walls. Everything feels quiet and peaceful.
I'm doing my best to draw characters actually inhabiting some setting, rather than standing in front of a backdrop. Looking forward to the gentle spring sunshine! π±β¨ #art

Yay layer effects! Thanks for sharing π I've gone the other direction and returned to traditional (picked up alcohol markers for the first time) and it's great to not look at a screen and I don't miss undo at all (surprised me) π
That's great! Did anything surprise you about it? Or anything you especially liked? I'm a big fan of symmetry tools because it makes drawing mandala-esque things so relaxing/soothing πβ¨
