The correct response to these assertions: "prove it."

I keep seeing people repeat the assertion that LLMs are "good at code." It just occurred to me why: most people can't assess code. If SWEs say "it makes me more productive" or "it generates good code" they're safe from having those assertions challenged by the majority of the public.
So it's primarily a more diplomatic label. That's pretty much what I thought but I wasn't sure if I missed something. Interesting. I live comfortably as a hater but I could see this approach working for others
I don't quite get the distinction between what this person calls an AI vegetarian and an AI hater or a Luddite
Why don't the democrats just take out ads telling everyone to vote for repubilcans?
One Cut of the Dead is quite possibly the most impressive movie i've ever seen. everyone needs to watch this film
I maintain aidirtylist.info if someone wants to work with me to build something off of that, HMU

Looked at the pic before reading the text and I gotta say, Aaron, you had me fooled
Our tax dollars are paying for this horror.

I can get behind the idea that we should change the framing away from utility to focus on harms.
However, I think calling these systems "useful" cedes too much ground. Useful implies merit. Just because there is demand for something doesn't mean it has merit.
@davidgerard.co.uk sounds like the makings of a pivot piece to me
Previously I might have had some patience, sympathy for bugs like this because we've all been there. But if you take to social media to brag about how little of your code you're writing, that's a declaration of war.
Also they use React Native lol
Bsky was just thrashing violently between two layouts, making whatever I was trying to do impossible until I force closed the app. This app is shit, run by idiots
Our industry has been plagued by mediocrity for a long time. This is the final boss.
We have 4 cabinets in our entryway that work perfectly as status columns. Plenty of space, cabinets still usable. Won't work for all spaces but I've been very pleased with it after struggling to make digital solutions stick. Oh btw you need to get the extra sticky notes
I find sticky notes are better for household tasks. Cognitive load is as close to zero as you can get and high visibility means people are less likely to forget to update.
It's crazy how difficult it is to avoid AI. I bought a supposedly vintage print in a frame last summer from a lady at an event, it wasn't until after I bought it she told me she downloaded it online and it was also AI. Like fuck it all man. I can't even find good puzzles anymore, what are we doing.

Went book shopping @superwuster.bsky.social @mackeza.bsky.social
This always makes me think the same shit every time. Why are you working that job? If you want a machine to do every single step for you, why the fuck do you work? Why get out of bed without the passion to do the thing you're allegedly excited to do? Why not just roll over and die if you don't care?
Inspired by #QuitGPT, please join me for what is already the largest boycott of anything in history of all humanity: the #QuitCoke campaign
Already, fifteen million people have considered the thought of signing a pledge to #QuitCoke
Here's a video, with some discussion of alternatives to consider!

Maybe I'm slow but I had to read this headline three times before I understood what it was supposed to mean
bvdub.bandcamp.com/track/us-again It's easy to get lost in bvdub's sprawling catalog, but I find myself coming back to this one a lot. Make it to the halfway mark and you will be rewarded.
What should you use instead of Proton mail? Well, I cannot say for certain that @tuta.com won't share your data with the feds, but they have at least indicated they won't add AI crap to their product aidirtylist.info/entities/tut...
