I am shocked to learn this is actually underestimating costs, because it ignores the infrastructure costs.
This video is lowballing it.

UNISON members at KCL are going on strike this month, for fairer pay and cost of living adjustments. If you can afford to support their strike fund, it'll help their members who are out there fighting for better pay and conditions. Any donations help!

I would like it to maybe take a chill pill for a minute. At least one.
Later in her life, June Jordan noted that instead of saying βthey,β she was making more βIβ statements, as in ββIβ am not doing enough, for instance, or βIβ have not done my homework, and so on.β
I suddenly want to give a multi-national corporation large portions of my money.
What's great about these two groups of people being in the same union is they can learn from each other.
By taking action together, the group that doesn't want to abolish capitalism can quickly learn and appreciate why some want to.
It all makes sense if you understand one choice they make internally.
I feel like you're about to go for a ride in Pacific Drive.
I mean... I'll never say no to pet pics.
I think you all can likely guess which of those two groups I am in.
Unions often contain people who love their workplace and want to either keep it the same way or improve it, alongside people who want to tear down all companies and abolish capitalism.
Those two groups of people can and do coexist in the same organization because they have a common opponent.
UVW-CWA members are forming unions at their own studios to make better games and to build a better industry.

They somehow managed to take one of the best parts of the conference and turn it into shit.
I'll be at GDC on a panel with a bunch of amazing worker organizers talking about how union campaigns are changing the industry for the better. If you'd like to learn more about workplace organizing come check out the talk on Wed. March 11 from 3:40-4:40pm!

devs if you're showing demos at stuff you gotta either have a built in time limit or a built in end point
This means that 9-year-old Lucy can deadlift me.
Fuck.
I much prefer more verbose code that you can literally read and understand what it's doing without needing to know frameworks as much.
I finally realized why I dislike web development. So many of the tools use shorthand notations to shrink text as much as possible, which makes understanding nigh impossible unless you dig into documentation or are familiar with that particular framework.
It's exhausting.
I've had this on my shelf for years and I've always avoided reading it because I know how angry I will get. I feel like I need to read it anyway.
Reading "Confessions of a Union Buster"
I am a perfectionist, but I've learned to usually limit how much I voice what I think with other people.
However, at the end of big projects with a lot of changes, I find it an incredibly useful skill because I can see all the rough edges and fix them to make it feel much, much better.
600 QA (Quality Assurance) workers at Activision have unionised with CWA. The workers are based in Austin, Texas, Eden Prairie, Minnessota, and El Segundo, California in the USA. This makes "Activision Quality Assurance United - CWA" the largest unionised group of workers so far in the industry. Microsoft (who own Activision) kept to the labor neutrality agreement signed with CWA and granted voluntary recognition of the union.
