Excellent! However, without policy, the details are daunting. What can be done about the fire chief who says he requires wide residential streets to allow his large fire engines? He claims he does not have the budget to buy a single, smaller fire engine? So more land is swallowed by roads.
“I don’t think anyone writes zoning rules with the hope of creating a housing shortage,” writes Sara Bronin in an op-ed. “But that’s exactly what this patchwork of rules seems to be doing.”
The Brighton-based co-op is building a portfolio of suppliers after paying $627M in 2024 to exit Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association contract.
This is spectacular. You make consistently amazing photos!
Extra Haha! Love the dog on the car roof nod to Romney
I have a perfect use for your dad‘s “Sir Otherwise”. Happy to explain what I want to use it for if you’re interested.
This is a most profound book. I read it in college in the 60s. I went on to study history and philosophy of science.
What seems obvious today was radical at the time. It took 30 years to convince people the Earth revolves around the Sun. Some people still struggle with evolution. Stay curious!
It seems rather quaint that I get frequent notifications: “Detected new Sex Offender Monitoring information in your area.”
OK, but what about all the sex offenders in the Epstein files?
I would prefer to get this message: “Detected major sex offenders in the Epstein files. Here are their names.”

It doesn’t matter if the US falls behind on EV‘s temporarily! EVs are reaching a tipping point in China and Norway. A few US states are approaching the same – California & Texas. China will flood the world with affordable EV‘s. It will happen. Show some patience. Wake up Ford and GM!
Hmm. 35% efficiency versus 80%. Tough choice. I’ll have to think about that! Ha ha
⚡ China is electrifying 9× faster than the rest of the world—EV sales surged from 5% to nearly 60% in just 5 yrs, loaders >25%, record solar & BESS installs. While others crawl, China races up the S-curve, becoming the first electrostate—an economy powered by electrons, not oil. 🌍🔋 #Disruption #EVs
Here are the basics for EV charging. Two important terms are often confusing: kWh and kW. Kilowatt hours, kWh, are stored in your car battery. It’s similar to how many gallons of gas are in your fuel tank. Most EVs hold between 50 and 100 kWh. Milage varies by car and weather. kilowatts, kW, are a measure of how fast your car charges. Are you using a home charger that charges at a slow speed, like the soda straw in the example? Or are you using a fast charger - more like a fire hose? There are a couple of other terms worth knowing about. It’s the difference between alternating current, AC, and direct current, DC. Cars run on DC, direct current, but homes operate on AC. Your cell phone charger plugs into an AC outlet and is converted from AC to DC. Same with your car. The exception for car charging is the ability for some cars to charge faster using direct current.
That beauty weapon sounds dangerous! Be careful.
Well done! Here’s the message I sent to my friends about Words Unraveled:
This is my favorite word show! Take a look and please subscribe. They need just a few more subscribers to achieve a major milestone.
The show is so good I take notes. I never take notes!
Congratulations!
See if you can get an exception for narrower roads. Wide roads are for suburbs. They take up land, cost more to build and service. Wide roads also cause longer sewer, water, and electric lines.
Buy a smaller firetruck to service the area.
Be a true model for affordable housing!

I watched the video and I don’t understand much of what is being presented. However he has the expertise to describe the situation. This beats all the silly conspiracy theories about what happened. We need experts like this and we need to trust them.
The mandolin is my most dangerous kitchen gadget. I lost the instructions that I never read, gave it away, and now I’m getting complaints from former friends that my pickled red onions are uneven in size. My real friends are more forgiving. C’est la vie.
Here’s a personal anemone example. I had access to a number of wind anemometers to measure wind speed. I had no idea where the name came from. As you pointed out, ANEMOS is an Ancient Greek term. I had Anemones in my garden. A sea Anemone is a daughter of the wind. Love connecting these together!
From your discussion of anemone, it struck me like a bolt of lightning why I enjoy “Words Unraveled“ so much! It connects the good things about human history and our common humanity.
Here in Colorado I bought some lavender plants only to find they were sterile. they produce flowers but seeds would not grow. I went back to a friend I gave plants to and they supplied me with some small lavender plants. Since then I’ve learned how to create new plants from cuttings
Came across wild lavender fields in southern France. Three houses and two states later, I’m still growing lavender. A real favorite!
Teen apprentices at Spy Hop learned about the Great Salt Lake through a partnership with local journalists and experts via the Great Salt Lake Collaborative. It was funded through Salt Lake City Arts Council's Wake the Great Salt Lake program.
In a southern France restaurant they recommended gizzard salad, a specialty of the region. Not appetizing is an understatement. It was a terrible meal. Gizzards are a byproduct of making foie gras. Back in the US I started at Dinner Group called “Jamais de Foie” - Never Liver.
Do you have a food thesaurus to help you make these food substitution decisions? If not, you should write one.
The next sourdough bread I make will include rosemary from the garden and roasted garlic. Yum :-)
As an American, I love Canada. Happy Canada Day!
