#Pokopia friends: are you pro- or anti-time skip? Personally, I'd like this game to be something I can return to over and over between the intense action/RPG/online fare I usually play. But if speed-running a life sim is your jam, more power to you.
The genre of Metroidvania has drifted so far from its roots that Silksong, a glorified action platformer with a few elevators, is mentioned in the same breath as Metroid. Add that to the RPG-esque quests (collect these items, defeat this miniboss etc.) and it just doesn't resemble Metroid at all.
Speaking of, completing a fetch quest is required in order to access the final area and fight the "true" final boss. A collectible quest becomes a necessity in order to progress late game NPC interactions which unlock the post game. I find this borderline insulting after 20-25 hours of game time.
Post Silksong (apparent) final boss thoughts: I've cooled on the game somewhat following end credits. Quite enjoyed the combat; however, this game does not satisfy the Metroid craving at all. Backtracking is limited to fetch quests as opposed to carving a way forward.
For reference, what did the PS1 and 3DS interfaces look like?
My "childhood Simpsons video game memory" comes in the form of Krusty's Super Fun House. I do not remember the circumstances by which I came to play this game, since I never owned it.
I don't know if I'll return to HK after Silksong, but I can confidently say that Silksong is far more up my alley than I had predicted.
I have some qualms with hitboxes and animation cooldowns in combat, but the overall flow of the game is excellent. Removed from the hype cycle, this game slaps.
I didn't click with Hollow Knight despite being a seasoned Metroid and Castlevania enjoyer. I am surprised, and pleased, to say that Silksong has its hooks in me after about 10 hrs of playtime.
The world layout, art direction, OST and difficulty curve are all lighting up my brain in equal measure.

John's retrospective and visual analysis on Heretic & Hexen is as informative as the remastered games are impressive. Highly recommend watching this video and picking up the games for the same price as your morning bagel & coffee.
I don't know if this is entirely due to game key cards, but that topic has certainly blown up (largely due to Nintendo's poor messaging).
In any case, I like the console and Mario Kart is a blast, but it's hard to justify dropping $90-110 for ports when DK and Prime are right around the corner.
Mario Kart World friends: is there a way to play online with a friends against other players? If so, how is this done?
typa shit I was installing on my Samsung Galaxy Note in 2012 via CyanogenMod
Walk with me here: Metroid Prime 2 for GameCube NSO, but the holographic cover art shimmers and reflects with the gyro capabilities of the Switch 2.

It's not that I didn't laugh a few times; I did! It's just that it's more like a chortle, and few and far between. The primary setup for each episode is fine, but the zing is taken out of the punchline since the "are we doing a Die Hard?" bit has already been done to death. 8 seasons is a mistake.
Watching the first two episodes of the new season of Rick & Morty has confirmed my worst fears. This show has moved into the "unfunny and occasionally sort of offensive uncle" category of comedy. These days, I'd rather watch something like Smiling Friends, which is a lot funnier and relevant.
Just getting around to FF7 Rebirth. Why am I activating towers in a JRPG man
