Nothing yet, the applications aren’t ready, haha.

Working on two right now, when time allows.

Booktello, which is a frontend for Librario so users can search for information about books, and Booklary, a book and reading tracking application.

Not sure I got this right, but if I did, Librario is not a book, but a project about books. It’s a way to get data about books (title, genres, moods, content warnings, etc) for developers building book applications.

We also have an #irc channel on libera.chat now, #librario. It’s IRC and a small project, so don’t expect much activity, but it should be a nice place to hang and chat about #books and the project.

librario: Simple REST API that aggregates book metadata into unified, comprehensive data.

As of last night, the public build of Librario officially supports getting #book metadata from #Goodreads, in addition to the other sources.

Source code is on #SourceHut, if anyone is interested.

Stop Telling Users Their DNS Is Wrong If you’re like me, you’ve had the experience where you add a DNS record for a service. You triple check it. The app still says it’s invalid. You wait. You check again. Still invalid. You start wonderi...

Apps that get DNS verification functionality wrong really cause a lot of pain for their users.

Having explained the problem a number of times, I finally decided to write it down so now I can just share a link.

Same goes for the website, the design is mostly done, just need to polish the typography. Been on my todo list for a week already.

I have written a #Goodreads #book metadata extractor for Librario days ago, but still haven’t been able to polish and write tests for it because come sleep time, the baby has been very fussy.

Being a dad isn’t compatible with having side projects, it seems πŸ€”

Such a good feeling! I’ll add that series to the list of things to look into :)

Been a long time since I read a #book that I couldn’t put down until I was done, but Strange Pictures, by Uketsu, is that good.

Got me hooked on the first chapter and didn’t let me go until the very end.

Looking to add more sources to Librario, the #opensource #book metadata API I’m building.

What do you use when you’re looking to get information about a book?

We currently have ISBNDB, Goodreads, Google Books, and Hardcover as sources, with OpenLibrary and Anna’s Archive in the works.

Thanks! Librario aims to solve that problem, and Booktello aims to surface that information in an easy to consume way. Both free.

Built my first iOS application today, Booktello, a frontend for Librario, a book metadata API that aggregates data from several sources into a single response.

Now let’s hope Apple approves the app for TestFlight. I wonder if they’ll allow that β€œDownload” link. Probably not.

I’m thinking Goodreads or Bookshelf, but with privacy as a focus and without the social features. Something focused on what matters, the your books and your reading pleasure.

If you could design your perfect book and reading tracking service or application, what features would you add?

PSA from 404 Media: you can opt-out of a data broker selling your flight travel data to the government to be searched without a warrant. Here's how I did it. This is ARC, the data broker owned by major U.S. airlines like United, Delta, American, etc

The β€œrun an LLM automatically if the test fails” idea seems like a fun and useful weekend project. I might take a look at that.

Question: if you’re looking for information on a book, is a non-spoiler summary of the book something you care about? What about one with spoilers, but clearly marked as such?

How did it take me this long to download and watch Key & Peele? I’m watching while putting the baby to sleep, bitting my tongue not to laugh too hard. So good.
