More than ever, it's more about the journey than the destination β¨ Great work!
You share a design for feedback on one thing⦠and suddenly the conversation is about something else.
Sharing designs works best when you can set clear boundaries. We wrote about how previews β and bringing designs into tools like Slack or Notion β help keep things focused here β

And in case you were wondering if you can do the opposite (take something in code and turn it into a design in Sketch)β¦yeah, of course you can!

For those of you working with the Sketch MCP server, we just launched a skills repo! Our first skill, sketch-implement-design, takes a design in Sketch and turns it into production-ready code with 1:1 visual fidelity. Take a look β github.com/sketch-hq/sk...
When your design document is really just a JSON file on your Mac, and youβve got a local MCP server to work with, it turns out you can doβ¦a lot of useful things?
Hereβs what weβve been using the Sketch MCP server for β

Weβve got plenty more to share with you this year β and weβre already working on whatβs next.
Catch up on everything weβve rolled out β skt.ch/changelog
Finally, we now support drag-and-drop organization for folders, documents (and even selections that contain both!) in the web app. Combine this with folders you can nest as many levels deep as you need, and youβve got a lot of flexibility for organizing your work. π§΅β
Weβve also added a full layer list for inspecting designs in the web app β making it easier to find layers, jump to them, copy links, grab CSS, or export your selection. Thereβs a handy new contextual menu, too. Also, you can invite the devs in your team to use this for free! π§΅β
Next up β an all-new Slack integration. If youβve ever shared a link to a document in your Workspace in Slack, youβll know thatβ¦ not much happens. Not anymore! Now you can connect your Workspace to Slack and get a nice preview. π§΅β
You can protect your previews with passwords and set expiry dates, and choose if people can comment on and inspect your designs. More info over at: skt.ch/nhO96u1 π§΅β
Weβre kicking off the year with four new features β starting with previews!
With previews, you can choose the pages and prototypes you want to share with clients, while keeping the rest of your document private. π§΅β
Already using our MCP server to do fun stuff? Weβd love to see it! Share it below β
If you want to get started with our MCP server, look no further, we got docs for you: www.sketch.com/docs/mcp-ser...
There youβll find instructions for setting up our MCP server with Claude, Cursor, Codex, and more.
[5/5] Got an existing website but no design files? Point Claude at the repo and ask it to build out all the relevant styles, and even entire pages, in Sketch for you. Again, you can have Claude check its own work by using our MCP serverβs get_selection_as_image tool.
[4/5] So far weβve been talking about existing projects, but if youβre starting something new and arenβt hot on color theory, you can throw Claude an image and ask it to create a complimentary color palette based on it. Once youβve got your colors, you can have Claude make them color variables, too.
[3/5] Maybe youβre building out an icon set or a particularly large Library. Either way, you can automate a lot of the organization and keep your documents tidy with little effort. In this case, we can use Claude to order things by name, rename layers, apply colors, and even create Symbols.
[2/5] If youβre mocking up a UI, you can use Claude to take the tedium out of swapping placeholder text with something more realistic. This works well if youβve got Symbols with text overrides. If youβve already got the text you need, Claude can use that in your designs, or generate some for you.
[1/5] If youβve got a set of dark and light Symbols, you can build out your UI using one set, then have Claude build the same screen using the other set. Thereβs no crazy setup here, just point it to the right Symbols. With our get_selection_as_image tool, you can have Claude check its own work.

Great with an MCP server
We shipped our MCP server back in October last year. Here are five (of many!) things weβve been using it for 𧡠β
(Weβre big Claude Code fans here, but you can use any MCP-compatible client)

One of the nice things about being a Not Hugeβ’ company is chatting to yβall more! Last year we set up a small Discord server to do just that, and weβre opening up invites for a while.
Come chat to us, share your feedback and get the odd sneak preview of what weβre woking on β discord.gg/maw7XaMqv3
Vector editor, but itβs possible to copy things like CSS and color values (in various formats/languages) from the editor itself. And if you use the MCP server itβs easy enough to generate code from any design.
β¦Or you could start a free trial and try it all for yourself?

Thatβs the basics covered, but if you want to go deeper and see every single feature, oh boy do we have a link for youβ¦ β

Working in a team? You can share a Workspace, store all your files there, organize them in any way you want. Got high security needs? Weβve got BYOK encryption and you can even have a private cloud instance. β
One more time for those at the back β dev seats in Sketch are free. All our developer handoff tools are available in any browser to inspect documents, grab tokens and download assets.
Weβve got a nice improvement coming soon as well π β
And while theyβre in the web app, they can leave comments (which you can see in the editor), try out prototypes and inspect designs β all for free! β
Want to share your work with someone? Just a copy link β to the document, to a page, or even an individual frame. They can view it in any web browser. β
