Hey #believeinfilm friends,
Today's review features a very special digicam from 2010: the Samsung WB2000!
www.analog.cafe/r/samsung-wb...
It features RAW support, plus magnesium alloy (?) and aluminum body. And oh, look at the dials!
I've also tried scanning film with it 😅 #photography 🎞️📸
Note that I’m simplifying here quite a bit as it’s not just RGB but specific wavelengths and the dyes are actually negative values minus the mask fog (so a red-sensitive molecule will be coupled to some variation of green dye that will be later inverted into red after scanning or printing)
Basically, there’s a specific light sensor and matching dye molecules. In normal film, molecules sensitive to red light will be coupled to red dyes that show up during development. Same for green and blue. But here, the red-sensitive molecule is coupled to blue, blue-sensitive is couple to red, etc
You can’t make film like this except at the factory that manufactures all the layers in-house. Certainly not a film for everyone and probably easier to make than a highly-accurate film like Portra, but still a very special product
Hey #believeinfilm friends,
Harman has just launched a new film!
In this post, I'm discussing what this means for analogue photography when a 147-year-old traditional black-and-white film factory begins to make its version of Lomo Turquoise:

Hey #believeinfilm friends,
I found leaked sample photos shot on the new Harman colour-negative film!
For full context, the photos themselves and the leak source, see this thread:

This is a spoiler, click at your own risk ;)

Same!

True. Can be problematic
Yeah, that’s the thing with these projects, there’s usually no 3rd party opinion of any kind. Though if they could produce the top-down view there’s probably potential for a pentaprism? Not sure if it’s actually possible tho
Youp, there are actually four new panoramic concepts just this year: www.analog.cafe/r/film-photo...
Love the top-down SLR design!
Half-frame medium format cameras are lokey genius idea for panoramic format. Smaller than XPan but still worth it for the ease of scanning.
We can also split the parts and sell them as spairs hehe
lol I've made some purchases in the past
I think a price will be something resembling an expensive mechanical camera made near Wetzlar
Hey #believeinfilm friends,
Watch Jeff and Suzan Bridges unbox WideluxX #1 and WideluxX #2 German-made panoramic film cameras: www.analog.cafe/comments/exwp
Youp, it's Jeff Bridges who played The Dude in The Big Lebowski.
Yes, those are complete copies of the original Widelux F8 cameras.
Hey #believeinfilm friends,
Harman will be launching a new colour film on Thursday!

I have no idea what it is (shared some of my thoughts and guesses in the linked post above).
What do you think it'll be?

Found that Phoenix I overexposed very easily so I avoided but now that you mentioned it, I'll give it another go :)
😁
Hey #believeinfilm friends,
I've just updated my Harman Phoenix review with new images, new experiments (bleach bypass), and an overall better written structure and easier-to-find key points about this uniquely British colour-negative film:

Youp, I was quite disappointed. I guess it's a good reminder that the vast majority of the times posted on Massive Dev Chart is opinions of people like us trying things (and sometimes getting them wrong)
Hey #believeinfilm friends,
I just published this month's Analog.Cafe newsletter:
A new ISO 400 colour-negative film from China, Fujifilm’s “secret” Japan-made film, a Harman mystery, updated Ektachrome, new pano projects, Leica Monopan, and the packfilm project! 🎞️📸

Thank you!
Hey #believeinfilm friends,
Today I review my new favourite everyday black-and-white film, Kentmere Pan 200:
www.analog.cafe/r/kentmere-p...
In this review, I'm including the CORRECT development times in Rodinal (Massive Dev Chart has them completely off, don't use those!)

Hey #believeinfilm friends,
I spoke to someone in the know about the Leica Monopan and packfilm — which may become a resurrected medium sooner than I thought:

It's good news all around!
