I've been "online" since 2007, sharing art with 5 people on some niche defunct forum or an AOL chat was, and still is, the happiest I had ever been sharing my art publicly.

art is so woven into my existence as a person that having to "produce" in late stage capitalism socmed is excruciating.

something about the "big artist" thing no one asks is whether or not we even wanted this.

lemme tell ya, if I could make art and a living from a cave y'all would never see me again.

i hate that social media has become this and i hate having to think about my art (and myself) in terms of algorithm

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.
