Spent some time in April working on these adorable blackwork needle books. Iβm so pleased with how they turned out!
These look great! Iβm making my own slate frame, and should do likewise.
Cranked out an earwarmer last week!
Finished up my studentβs clock on Friday. C&C routered face, burned numbers, and an oiled sanding to finish it in danish oil. Very pleased with how it turned out!

A woman holds a round embroidery hoop which contains a piece of fabric bearing a medieval coat of arms. She has begun embroidering the top section with Royal blue thread.
A close up photo of the coat of arms. The top section, or chief, is outlined in stem stitch and is being infilled with split stitch, all in royal blue embroidery cotton.
A cropped close-up of the embroidery, which shows the details of the three trillium blossoms displayed in the chief. She has completed approximately 60% of the blue embroidery. The flowers will be embroidered in white cotton later.
Iβve been working on an embroidery project this week, and Iβm really enjoying it. The methodical pattern of laying stitches is both very centering and very calming. Negative thoughts have no room to thrive when you have to pay a modicum of attention to the work at hand!
One finished edge of the clock. I laid it on a piece of black walnut to let you see the details more clearly.
Pieces of several types of wood are glued together in a visually pleasing pattern, ready to be made into a wall-mounted clock.
The clock face with hand-drawn decorative edging.
Playing with wood again at work. This time, we rifled through the offcut bins, and prepped cherry, beech, purple heartwood, and mahogany to create a wall clock. It was an odd shape, so I hand drew an interesting design along the sides, to be cut out with the scroll saw. Stay tuned!
Itβs a wonderful approach to life that I think the Danes and Norwegians really get right. Sometimes, noir mind really does need a warm, welcoming hug π₯°
Whipped up a hat to donate for Christmas hampers later this year. 1/???

I hate being so broke post-Christmas that I have to beg my friends to buy the stuff I make.
Thank you! Of course, I can see every single mistake I made, but Iβve learned from them, and that will be reflected in the next project.
A woman reckons n a love seat, her legs n the cushion with ankles crossed. She holds a crochet hook with the beginnings of a crocheted throw spread out along her lap. There is a wide blue stripe and she is almost finished the pale grey stripe.
A crocheted blanket is laid out on a womanβs outstretched legs, showing the progression of her crocheting. The first two stripes are completed and she has started on the third.
A crocheted blanket is stretched out across the legs of a woman reclining on her love seat. There are now seven rows of a second blue stripe completed.
A close up photo of the stitch pattern of a crocheted blanket. Single crochet stitches alternate, in a pattern called moss stitch. This shows the transition between the blue and grey stripes.
Making good progress on the living room throw. This yarn is SUPER soft.

Thank you, Taliesin! Of course, I can see every mistake I made, but itβs a functional chessboard, and my son likes it, so thatβs all that matters π
Basic shape of a handmade chessboard cut out and glued together.
Basic chessboard with wood samples for a surround laid across the top.
A finished handmade chessboard cut black walnut and oak squares with a thin beech border and black walnut surround. Edge has been rounded by router and oiled and sanded to a smooth finish with danish oil.
A young man with curly hair and a big smile holds his chessboard for a photo on Christmas Day.
I havenβt made anything with wood since middle school; being in woodworking this semester gave me the chance to grow my skills, and when we drew names for our Handmade Christmas exchange, I knew exactly what I wanted to give my son the chess fan. Spent 2 months making this for him. He loves it!
Whipped up this cute little tomte for my friend RenΓ© for Christmas.
My nieceβs gift is starting to take shapeβ¦
Been crafting my little heart out lately. Itβs made these two giant βchill pillsβ for a friend to give to her kids for Christmas (banana for scale).
Making some progress on the current chill pill (black yarn), and the progress thus far of a Christmas present for my niece (blue yarn).

Figured I should share some photos of the things I love doing. First up: shinrin-yoku (forest bathing).
This is the community forest closest to my home, and it is a favourite place for me to go to refill my emotional vessel. It is so peaceful and beautiful here.

A woman sits in the passenger seat of a vehicle taking a selfie. She is wearing a Christmas themed red poncho, mini Santa hat headband and green Christmas tree earrings. Her blonde and brightly coloured hair is braided and resting on one shoulder while she pulls a face of mock surprise.
Played elf at school today, delivering gifts for the staff gift exchange. It was pretty well received, and my student helper was great!
Beginning the unapologetic blocking of random men that try to follow me. I either need to know you, or at least have things in common with you.
Feel better, dear heart β€οΈβπ©Ή
Hug-tested!
Chill Pill has a face now!
Opal is not impressed.
I finished construction of this chill pill stuffy and have already started on the second one. Once itβs done, I can wrap up my Christmas creating, then focus once again on my embroidery!

Sometimes, I make food that looks like food. Chicken and mushroom rotini Alfredo with garlic toast.
Working on a huge Chill Pill for Laura-Lee. One more of these, then itβs on to a squashed frog door stopper!
